Wonderful saw, one of my favorites!
My wife and I were looking for a nice, flush cutting saw and Suizan kept coming up so with all the great reviews we figured we'd try this one out. It's awesome. Simply awesome. The build is simple but feels so good, the cuts come out super clean with no effort, a really great cutting experience. You always hope that the tools you buy live up to this imaginary hype you've built up in your mind but the Suizan definitely surpassed our expectations. It's a great little saw that knew the assignment and knocked it out of the park.

Flawless performance
This is the first Japanese saw I have ever owned, but it will not be the last. I could not believe how well it performs, rip or crosscut, as I have the double edge, it is flawless. It wades through every cut like no saw I’ve ever used. I needed to rip a piece about 24 inches and because of the lateness of the hour, I didn’t want to disturb family or neighbors with my table saw so I grabbed one of my conventional saws and ripped the piece. The saw would stick and hang occasionally, And it drifted a bit away from my cut line but it was on the waste side. I had not used my Ryoba as of yet and decided to give it the same job, but it is a rather small saw so I was skeptical. In less than a minute it had changed my mind, no sticking, no hanging, no drift, it cut straight and true and did it in less time than the conventional. Very clean cutting. I am probably going to have to replace the blade before long because I reach for it now for every job, though I really don’t know what kind of mileage these saws get, If anyone knows I would appreciate the info. My daughter asked me what I want for Christmas, the Kataba 10 inch crosscut and the Dozuki 9 1/2 inch dovetail was my response, can’t wait till I can try them out, let you know how they perform.

An amazing saw at a great price.
I bought this saw several months ago thinking it was an affordable way to try out the Japanese approach to fine cut saws. I've been thoroughly impressed with the design and performance of the saw, I just wish I'd known about them decades ago. The basic concept of the pull cut saw means that since the blade is under tension when pulled through the wood, the blade can be made thinner, allowing for the thinner kerf. For me personally, the pull cut allows me to be more accurate in my cuts and the folding design means I can safely store the saw just about anywhere. Add to that, this has rip cut and cross cut edges on the same saw so it takes the place of two tools and saves storage space. If all of that isn't enough, replacement blades are available at an affordable price should the need arise (I've considered ordering one to have on hand just in case but haven't gotten around to it yet). I'd really like to get the folding Dozuki offered by Suizan but so far this Ryoba has proven more than capable of everything I've needed in a fine cut hand saw. If you're considering adding one of the Suizan saws to your collection I highly recommend this company's products, their attention to detail and product quality is second to none and their prices are very reasonable for what they deliver.

This saw is awesome!
I use this in my yard to cut small woody overgrowth, limbs etc from easy to reach heights. It works great, easy to hold and super sharp, cuts right through limbs, small trees, vines, etc. Very Light weight and maneuverable- use this before i have to pull out the gas powered pole saws, chain saws, hedge trimmers. Love it and always wanted one. Do not regret purchasing and probably will purchase more in the near future -maybe as gifts as well. I cannot say for sure how long it holds up, but I hope it last a long time. Very convenient to use and prefer these over hand held clippers, pruners, loppers...

Well made, very effective.
This is a very nice saw, great size (bigger than it looks online). Blade is very narrow and sharp, cuts through 2x4 with ease. I chose this because I needed to cut through thicker material, verses the type that has reinforcement along the top to keep the blade straight. That makes cutting straight more challenging because the blade easily bends to fit whatever angle you are on, but that makes straight cuts more challenging. Best to have one of each :-)

great saw
Honestly i've never used one of these before getting this one and i realize what i've been missing. I had to cut a lot of dowels for a wood working project and this saw worked great cutting them flush without harm to the surface. It's very sharp, folds up smoothly and easily.

Cuts a fine line but the blade (for me) is just too flexible. I have to keep the cutting close to the handle.

This is a fantastic folding pull saw. Teeth are sharp and without burrs. The saw cuts cleanly and without scraping. The handle is not as comfortable as I'd prefer due to the channel on the underside where the blade folds into the handle, but is good otherwise.

This japanese saw is a masterpiece and cuts effortlessly into any piece of wood. So far I have tried with 18mm plywood and pinewood, and results have been impressive. Compared to a traditional western saw, this one takes very less effort to saw through the wood. Even though the blade is thin and flexible, the cuts are dead straight. Its take a bit of time and patience to get use to the pull motion, in case you are not familiar with Japanese style saw before. But once you have crossed that stage, you will not feel going back to the western saw.

Excellente scie, la prise en mains est parfaite . Certes le geste n'est pas celui utilisé pour une scie européenne mais l'apprentissage est rapide ( deux coupes d'essai la légèreté de la lame peut faire peur) et le résultat est vraiment très bon.
