So far so good
Installed in a 1955 Pontiac Star Chief, 287cu, V8. The instructions said to remove existing ballast resistor, however when I did so there wasn't nearly enough ohm from just the coil by istself and car wouldn't even turn over. Put the resistor back in series and everything was all good. Runs better and starts better than with the old contact point and condenser. Would also recommend that you have a good quality coil too.

For a 61 pontiac
I have previous experience with these ignition conversion kits. Some advice I can give is:these cheaper kits don't come with instructions. They aren't hard to figure out, but you can find information online if needed.Do NOT Wire it backwards by accident or on purpose, it will be not good after that.Do NOT leave the ignition switch in the Run position with the engine off for long. If it's powerd up but not running they can burn out.Make sure you aren't wiring it into a power source with resistance, like the old ballast or resistance wire.Like any electronic car part, they don't last forever, they do eventually fail and it's a good idea to carry a spare if you take road trips or do extensive driving. For this price you can get 2 for what the name brands cost.Recommended.I Hope My Review And Pictures Were Helpful To You !!

Bring your distributor into the 21st century
I have an early Chevy II Nova with a small block in it, and the firewall clearance is really tight for an HEI. This conversion kit will let me run a small diameter point-type distributor for clearance but still reap the benefits of modern electronic ignition. Easy installation and all the hardware is included!
