Excellent quality
I still think these were a great buy for the price. Excellent quality and balance. Have had to sharpen the chef's knife and paring knife a few times but once I do they are razor sharp again. Chef's knife is heavy and personal taste is that I do not like the bolster one bit. It is not only uncomfortable and will make sharpening the entire blade an issue going forward but it is actually painful when used for a reasonably long duration. I think most people will chop holding the bolster but having to go far back up the handle to hold it and avoid pain means losing control somewhat. They do make a version without the huge bolster but I just couldn't find any while I found this. Other than that they are great!

Superb knives
I spent a lot of time researching knife sets and watching many YouTube videos on the big brands like Global, Wusthof, Robert Welch etc and finally decided on these as they were superb value and quality. Very happy with this knife set. They are very sharp and have a solid feel. They're very nicely finished and the balance on the chef's knife is just perfect. Slice through everything with ease. I can't comment on what they'll be like in a dishwasher as I intend to handwash and look after these knives. The photos don't really do them justice as I don't think they have a proper photo of the chef's knife on Amazon, they all look small but it is a proper regular 8 inch chef knife. The chef knife alone is usually £70 so this set on Black Friday at 116.99 is superb.

but with technology and techniques pretty common in the industry
Buying a knife is a personal choice. It's something that each person should evaluate individually. Let's face it, most expensive knives are fairly similar in quality and strength of the steel used which makes the fit of the handle and balance of the blade more of a personal choice. People read these reviews expecting someone to say 'hey, look here, this knife is made of carbon fibre and has everlasting sharpness and even takes the rubbish out at night', but with technology and techniques pretty common in the industry, it makes all top end knives much of a muchness. Whether you buy Global, Zwilling or Wusthof, you know you are going to get a good quality knife. I chose these knives because they are the old standard. Their handle is the traditional design which resembles the knives that my mother used when she taught me how to cook and I like the feel of the blade and handle. If you want to pay a whole lot more for Global because they are chic and fashionable, go ahead and enjoy yourself, but you cannot beat an old standard German designed knife from Solingen, Germany.

The sharpest tool in the kitchen
A good basic range of well-crafted and extremely sharp knives, plus a pair of scissors and a sharpening tool to ensure your blades never lose that keen edge. The bamboo block is beautiful and sturdy but it just takes up far too much space. I’ve stored it anyway in a cupboard and have these knives hanging from a magnetised rack instead. Expensive when compared to lesser quality brands, but these knives really are an investment. They are machine washable but it’s recommended that you hand wash instead. I’ve followed this advice so I can’t comment on whether a hot wash in the dishwasher would damage these knives in any way. 4½ stars

Henkels quality
There are arguably better knives available, but for a great mid to high end knife that will offer many years of good service its hard to beat zwilling knives. I have owned a set of five star knives for 25 years and have been very happy with them and so have purchased a starter set for my son. The pro knives have comfortable wooden handles and good sharp blades and bought as a set offer exceptional value.
