I live in an apartment complex and wanted some added security, when my wife and I are home, mainly when sleeping. Something about the maintenance guys, property manager, etc. having a key to get in makes me want to take an added measure. Some of the reviews said it could be easily broken, I have no idea what they are talking about. I grabbed the package it came and was immediately impressed by how much it weighs! If this is properly installed on the door, and preferably on a stud around the door frame, it is SOLID. I mean, this chain isn't a little flimsy chain, a lot thicker than I expected. The whole thing is very well made, a nice weight to it, fits in the slider perfectly, very secure when screwed in properly. and is incredibly cheap!P.S. - Drop a comment down below with any questions. Very easy to install. Holds strong to door and frame.

I purchased this product when my 3 year old started opening doors and going outside without waiting for an adult to escort him. This product works well for this purpose. We installed them high enough that he cannot yet reach them. We did, however need to place them further apart than was suggested on the instructions because we felt like at the recommended placement the door could open too far. We wanted to make sure that our son could not fit through the opening.My husband left the chain in place one day when I was at work. When I got home he was in bed so I reached through to try and slide the chain from the outside so I would not have to wake him. I was able to do this with little effort. So not great in terms of keeping out intruders, perfect for keeping toddlers contained.

Easy to use & can crack door open to see who is there.

Strong lock. Good.I use these as extra security; I buy 2. Then use the chain parts to make one lock; When I go outside - I pull the 2 chains together and place a padlock on them. This forces crooks to make noise by kicking the door in or taking time to break the locks. By then my alarm goes off, they give up because neighbors come into hall to see what the noise is.I got the locks set up so the crooks cannot turn off the alarm and motion cameras, Wi-Fi until they get the chains off and open the door. (Same for windows)Been effective for years.

I purchased 2 of these for my Wood Shed and my attic. What does this do for me? maybe gives me a false sence of security but at least it detours the incredibly dumb criminals. Only reason I purchased it was because of the price, other than that it was a "Yeah I am sure this is going to keep the bad guys out" false feeling. If you have to purchase a slide lock then buy this one, if not then be more realistic with your security.
