Just like I remember as a kid, smaller than my original one from the 70s. Gift for 10yr old niece.

this lava lamp is no good, don't buy it. I bought another lava lamp along with this one and it's a 17" one with blue liquid/white wax and it works great. However this smaller purple one is cloudy, and the wax doesn't flow properly - it forms small globules and is too broken up. there are instructions to trouble shoot these problems (obviously it's a common complaint) but none of their strategies worked. i rarely write reviews, but this one is worth warning people about. Not sure if it's the color design or the smaller size, but I'd recommend getting a full size lamp, since i never had a problem with those.

Its just ok, not like picture, will report back after I leave it on for a while as suggested, but it sounds like the reddit forums are suggesting I have to actually filter this thing to get it not milky cloudy looking, would be nicer if there was more contrast. It certainly works and looks just ok, but its like pink on pink, I think purple and pink as pictured would be cooler, but so far its still kinda hard to even see the wax. I have left it on like non stop for at least 3 days, I will admit it is improving in clarity slightly so maybe I just need to leave it on longer as suggested. I won't be enthusiastic though if I have to filter the liquid in order to get the results as pictured.

I think it’s funny how people buy lava lamps and they expect them to be shipped from across the country, and they expect them to show up in perfect condition and not cloudy. These are lava lamps people, liquid and wax mixed together, it creates cloudiness. If you don’t want a cloudy lamp, go to Spencer‘s, and pick one out of the box and check it before you buy it. Otherwise, expect it to be cloudy and just learn how to filter your lamp. It literally takes no longer than 2 to 3 minutes from start to finish and is simple as could be. I do it almost every single one that I buy online. So instead of complaining, learn why it’s cloudy and how to fix it!

OK, have to admit, at first I was not a happy camper. Light bulb that came with the lamp had broken filament and glass was milky. So, I got a new lightbulb and tried it (DO NOT exceed 25W bulb). After running it for 8 hrs a day (do not exceed 10 hours) for a few days milkiness has improved, but still there. Before sending this back, I asked my wife's and daughter's opinion (both having MUCH better taste than I) and they said the milkiness actually was kind of neat and added to the ambiance of the lamp. I think they are right. UPDATE: Have been running lamp 8 hours a day and glass has evened out nicely... see second picture. Glad I did NOT send it back

I bought this for our loft area, and it looks and works great. It’s not super bright, which provides a calming effect. Seems to be made well. Worth the money so far!

It works but not satisfying to look at. Instead of coloring the fluid, they put a film that is blurry(inconsistent, dots of darker color like skin rashes) on the glass. You can even see the bumpy lineS on the globe. The bulb also died after 10 minutes and I had to buy new ones. Disappointing.
