Thematic fun with minor balancing issues
My wife and I played the 2 player version quite a bit, and I think it's best when played with more people so the humans can experience the sheer terror of fleeing the dinosaurs. Thematically the board game is awesome with satisfying movie references and character sheets that allow some variations in play styles. However, there are some glaring balancing issues when it comes to the dinosaurs and their mobility/damage output. I realize that the odds are meant to be stacked against the human players, but their ability to evade the dinosaurs is very limited. Several times as the Dino master I was able to just camp the player objectives and wear them down with the ranged acid spitting abilities of the dilophosaurus, and then send in the Rex for heavy damage when they would flee. It would have been nice to see a co-op variation so people can play against a dice roll AI, but that is probably too much complexity to ask of a mass market game like this. The objectives for the humans also are fairly repetitive, but overall its a surprisingly quality game design.
