Gunson G4104 Battery Charger Model 1

Just received the product. Unpacking it, resulted in the plastic prong, used to open the electrical socket apertures, to snap off. As I need a charger before Friday, I have bodged it up, in order to plug it in. However, there is no immediate indication of whether it is working or not. To be fair a couple of hours in, it is warm to the touch, which must prove something.The very nice guy on Gunson's technical helpline could only suggest putting a multimeter over it, to be certain in the short term. In the long term, he added, if it doesn't work the battery would go flat! We both laughed! I neither own, or would understand how to use a multimeter, so that option is out. I do suppose the indicator light on the actual car battery, might eventually turn green. If that should happen, I would certainly give an extra star to my rating. I am used to meters with needles, showing charge rates on chargers, and would advise similarly minded people to pay a bit extra for their chargers, in order to get this feature.

Since buying this charger several months ago I've had two occasions it's been needed. Each time it worked as was expected of it - i.e. it charged a flat motorcycle battery.It's very compact (small enough to fit in the pocket of a bike jacket) which can be extremely handy.Being a trickle charger you need to leave the battery charging for several hours at least.The unit gets warm to the touch (not too hot) which, in the absence of any lights, bells or whistles, is the only indication it's actually working unless you attach a meter to test it.It is very basic, but at under £10 when I bought mine that makes it a bargain and well worth a 5 star rating.

Very good charger for the money. Doesn't do anything fancy, but will trickle charge batteries from completely flat, which is something the more advanced chargers don't do.

Came with broken screw threads so the screws were falling out of the item, didn't connect it to the mains as not prepared to take the chance, bought another from elsewhere.

Very useful item and keeps motor home battery constantly charged. Will purchase another unit for use on my motor bikes.

The charger trickle charges a garaged Ambulance. It would be useful if it included a neon light to confirm that charging was taking place.
