This is a very good comb, capable for dense poodle fur. I use it on my Standard Labradoodle, who has very coarse, often matted curly fur. I would think that provided you held the dogs coat while brushing to prevent any pulling it would be fine for difficult areas. Otherwise a slicker brush may be better if the dog has less coarse fur.
