Volkman Avian Science Super Parakeet Bird Food 4lb

It's getting harder and harder to find good quality pet bird seed. I dislike buying from our local farm co-op because the seed is often full of webs and moths. The big box stores seem to offer less and less variety, and while their prices are usually cheaper, the quality is visibly inferior. Hooray for Volkman seed products. The birds love Avian Science blends, and it's no wonder. The parakeet formula consists of white proso millet, canary grass seed, red proso millet, oat groats, flax, corn, rape, hemp, njyer, sunflower, a fruit mix of papaya, pineapple, apple & coconut, carrot, oyster shell, and spinach flakes. Everything my birds like to eat, including treats like oat groats, is in this mix. It's reassuring to know top-quality seeds can be found online and delivered quickly (via Amazon Prime). UPDATE: What happened to the price of this bird seed? It used to cost $9 (my last purchase was 3-2014 at that price). One month later a 4 lb bag now sells for over $18. Talk about a price hike...I can't afford it now. ONE MORE UPDATE: Because this parakeet seed regularly fluctuates in price from $9 to over $20, I simply buy two bags at a time when the price is low, not when I really need it. And sometimes the 8 lb bag is cheaper per pound than the 4 lb. bag. Just when you think the price will not go down, it does, so be patient and check often. Not sure if this is crazy supply and demand, getting rid of old stock, profit greed or what?!

If you have parakeets this is the best food for them other than the cheap kind from the stores. This is one of the best for your birds health. It has a healthy variety of what’s inside of the food

This bird seed is perfect for my two very picky budgies! There is hardly any leftover seed in their bowl at the end of the day compared to their previous seed! This is a must have for all budgie owners! I recommend keeping it in a refillable non perishable plastic container keeps it fresh for longer!

My parakeets are elderly and very picky, they are also rescues, so they were not introduced to a variety of healthy foods and pellets from an early age, which means all they will eat is seed... and they love this Volkman's blend. I used to buy it from my local bird shop, but after moving I was unable to travel the long distance to restock, I was very happy to find it on Amazon. The order did take a long time to arrive, but that was most likely weather related. Everything arrived in order and so far no issues with the quality. I highly recommend this seed, my babies are 9yrs old, and considering they mostly exist on seed, I believe that speaks volumes for Volkman's.

Nice mix of seed my birds love it

Good seed mix. Budgies NEED seeeds in their diet. Not just pelllets. They also need fresh veggies, some fruit, egg food ext. peed them volkman parakeet seed mix not just pellets. Think natural…. Not manmade. Vokman is good stuff.

This amounts to a decent supply of indoor birdseed. The stores only carry little bags so you have to constantly go back!

This seed mix recommended by experienced friends. Not cheap but didn't expect it to be. Budgie loves it! while I try to change her to a complete pelletted diet. Looks and feels like quality seed in top condition, well packaged. Would buy again.
