MASTRO IS FANTASTIC!
Great DVD!Fred Mastro is one of the best martial artists and self-defense experts out there. A true pioneer and amazing technician. Anyone familiar with Fred Mastro will totally appreciate this DVD. It’s Fred—- doing Fred stuff! 😀HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

It's more like a promotional video than an instructional one.
It's ok, thought it would have more actual techniques than showing seminar participants. It's more like a promo than a tutorial instructional video. He would probably kick me around if he read this, lol, I'd probably learn more, lol.

Good stuff, but the presentation leaves something to be desired.
I like this system, and I prefer to study systems for self defense instead of isolated "scenario-based" techniques.Systems can be applied as unlimited types of techniques, just as learning mathematics lets you do unlimited calculations, versus learning one technique like adding 2 plus 2.Much of what is in this seminar is technique-based, which to me is a shortcoming. But if you are familiar with the systems behind it as I am, then it is a great instructive DVD. I have lots of respect for Silat, Kali, and the Fred Mastro system. I think he's done a great service to the martial arts community. Please note that the way it is structured you hear from the instructor. Then for about an equal amount of time the camera basically pans the room and you watch lots of students trying out what the just learned. Then you hear from the instructor again, before again it pans the room.If you've studied observational psychology or "modeling techniques" (like those used to train people in the military and elsewhere) you know that observing experts helped rewire your brain to learn faster and better. Conversely, observing people making mistakes trains your brain to make the same mistakes. So panning the room watching people practice is mostly useless to me, and it means that the actual instruction on the DVD is about half of the running time of the DVD. If the DVD is a little over an hour, in other words, to me it represents about 35 minutes of instruction.Otherwise it's good stuff, and you'll have to decide for yourself if that amount of instruction is worth the price of the DVD.

Time indicated is not réel !
Hi, the time indicated is 113 minutes but in reality it lasts 77 minutes. I find it not correct to give false information. Dvd are expensive and it would be normal to display actual times.

Good supplement for someone who already has training and knows concepts of Self Defense
Despite some negative reviews I've seen I purchased and I liked the material. I have trained in Hapkido and I found that the techniques shown are a nice supplement. Now if you have not trained before, watching this video, or any video, will not make you competent in Self Defense unless you can train with someone. The comment about having Randori/Kumite is valid but keep in mind each individual will have good and bad days in the ring/on the mat and its not a real indication of how proficient they or their system may be. To each his/her own. I find some of it useful and I plan to purchase the follow on video. If you have training and can understand the concept of "Breakaways" and know wristlocks, armbars, transitions etc... you may find this worthwhile.
