This relatively small, but to the point, book covers easy textures that one can achieve at different stages of the jewelry making process. The author describes in detail how to achieve them and there are sample textures shown in lots of pictures (b/w). It is almost like taking a class where the instructor takes you through different ways to texture with hammers, punches, burs and a hammer handpiece. He also shows how to modify inexpensive tools to be used for textures. But that is not all. The book also contains the info about where to get all the tools and materials, which can be tricky for some things. Overall I like it a lot, particularly for beginning and intermediate jewelry makers. It is not only a how-to book, it also has a lot of information about tools in general, for example how to dress a new hammer or how to best hold a hammer handpiece when texturing.

I have no rolling mill so always looking for ways to add texture. This book gives several ways of texturing that I never though of.
