Not as nice as I had hoped
This piece looks nice in the picture, but in real life looks really stamped and cheap looking.I thought the price was adequate to provide something that looked better in real life. The colors are not vivid and it almost looks like a plastic decal applied to a window.I am sorry I ordered it. It did come well packaged and arrived safely and unbroken. I was glad it had a stand with it, but overall if I had seen it in a store in real life, I would never have purchased it. It looks like something in real life that cost about 20 dollars, which is much less than I paid.

beautiful
This is just beautiful. However, it is all one piece of painted glass... not actual stained glass. It's a beautiful replica. We gave it to my father-in-law as a gift and he loved it!

a great homage to FLW
we had purchased this back in the day and then my youngest son at on it! only recently available, this piece shows off the true artistry that defined his works. we received the work promptly and it actually led me to buy a second work based on the Robie house.

Okay
The picture online is a lot better than the product. I knew the piece wasn't real stained glass, but for over $100, I expected the print on the glass to be much higher quality. It is not very good quality and frankly I was a little embarassed to give this as a Christmas present.

Please Educate Yourselves About Stained Glass
I own this and absolutely love it. It is a fine piece of art, highly crafted, and meets all my expectations as a ceramic artist. I am writing because there is an unfortunate lack of knowledge about how this and similar pieces are made, and a kind of entitled arrogance to many of the comments. If those who claim "this isn't 'real' stained glass" and "I expected little pieces of glass all joined together" really thought through their assumptions, they'd stop cold: How much do they value an artist and his or her time and talent? What do they really know about stained glass? Are they confusing what they buy for kids at an art supply store to paint with the techniques used in kiln-fired glass?I am astounded that people would think they could get "came glasswork" (cut glass joined together) for as little as about $70, for even a very small piece (in fact, smaller is harder to work with). Really?!?! It would take hours and hours if not days and days to make the stained glass pieces sold through Amazon that way. At even $7.50 an hour, not counting supplies and overhead, a 10x10 piece would cost a more than $150 just to cover labor.People: Please educate yourselves. Glass enamels used in the art pieces sold here are really a wonderful evolution of stained glass that makes it accessible and affordable to everyone, at a high quality of work. The base glass is "painted" with vitreous enamel, which is really finely ground glass, and kiln-fired -- heated very high so the enamel melts into the base glass and is fused and hardened. It does come out as "one sheet" (people complain for no good reason), but it is not one of those stick-on films or plain old paint. It is more like pottery glazing -- ceramic glazes are, in fact, a form of glass. While there is no doubt some of the "stained glass" items sold are junk, this one -- and all those licensed by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation -- are not. I am in NO WAY affiliated with FLW, btw. I am just a lifelong fan of his designs, and of art deco and art nouveau. I own a fair number of "affordable" pieces of different kinds of art in these styles, and I have a high standard for quality. And a very high appreciation for artists and their time and talents. Finally, you can hardly go wrong on this since Amazon has an easy and forgiving return policy.
