Ideal Series 7 [DVD]
S**7
Consistently funny, imaginative, original, brilliantly acted and wonderfully twisted
Black humor at its best.Stories elegantly shift from surreal to ordinary to absurd and thus create fertile ground for humorous non-conventional situations, and even the more brutal / black humor scenes (all kinds of bizarre injuries and severed organs, murder, sex, blood, drug use) where done in such a way that they where much more funny than repellent.Over the last few weeks, while watching all 7 series, The roars of laughter echoing in the house where the unmistakable indication that "Dad's watching IDEAL again".One or two episodes from series 1 where enough to get me hooked till the last episode of series 7.I've enjoyed series 7 as much as I've enjoyed all the previous ones. Regarding reviews that describe a decline in the quality of the last series - well, I think some of the characters (actors+ writer?) do seem to be less vigorous in this series , not enough for me to remove a star from my review but enough to feel that it may have been a wise decision to finish here.If you've seen and enjoyed any of the episodes on any of the series - than don't bother with the separate boxsets, as you'll probably end up ordering all of them for more than the price of the Ideal: Complete Series 1-7 Box Set [DVD ] that is now available. As far as EXTRAS are concerned - this is the only aspect where I found a gradual decline in quality, with series 5 being the poorest having no outtakes (of which consistently great ones where available on all other series) and no commentary audio tracks (that sadly where available only up until series 3 on some of the episodes). This box, like series 5, contains only 1 DVD with 6 episodes unlike all other series which contain 8 episodes on 2 DVD's.

Still enjoyable
It is still one of the most enjoyable and inventive comedies on TV.But: for sure if you haven't seen the other series, give up trying to follow it.Also, it seemed oddly... unstructured. The plot was all over the place. New plotlines were introduced which then led nowhere. Like Jenny becoming a policewoman, and then not appearing again. And Nicky's gang ganging up with the Chinese gang, nothing ever came from that. It was all just faintly confusing and aimless. But still often funny of course.

Bad decision to stop msking IDEAL. Funniest and most original series from the BBC in many a year.
A great series thats maintained its characters and storyline throughout. A real shame its no longer being made as it doesnt have any tired elements. If anything, its gets getting more interestingly weird and hilarious with each episodw.

"All right, Son-yoooor..."
Wasn't expecting much as a lot of the reviews trashed this series. However, it's no less entertaining than the last few. It seems like a series 8 was planned, because there are a lot of loose ends - what a pity they didn't tie it all up.

Better than absinthe
I wasn't sure if Series 7 would be able to live up to all that had gone before. Very pleased to find this featured more incredible surprises, and the highs and lows that genuinely drew us all into the wondrous world of Moz. Open your mind and learn about art at the same time! Ideal continues to invent; hope this means there will be more...

Nicely nicely fella
A brilliant comedy series with some superb one liners. If your idea of comedy is Miranda don't buy this. If you like innovative, original comedy without canned laughter every 10 seconds you will love this. Start at series one though or you won't have a clue what it's about.
