Always a great camera - plus recessed mount tips
Have had these cameras before and they don't disappoint. They have been installed indoors and outdoors and subjected to all kinds of weather: from rain to snow. I have yet to have one fail. The resolution is fine, and they seem to adapt to various lighting conditions well. I did have one issue where a large portion of soffit was in the cameras view. This caused the camera to illuminate the soffit. Because the soffit was white, the camera did not see at night as well as it could (thought the area was brighter than it actually was). I positioned the camera so the soffit was no longer in view and the problem was solved. These cameras have an option to install them recessed into a soffit. It looks pretty nice, and is easy to install - just make sure that you have enough depth under the soffit to install. Since the soffit is covered, it makes it harder to see if there is enough depth. I drilled a small hole where the camera would be. I then cut a few wires: one whose length was the depth of the recessed mount, and one whose width was the radius of the recessed mount. I used these to probe the area in the soffit before I committed to cutting a hole in it. It worked great. Also take into consideration that nails for roofing and shingles may be driven into this area.
