Enthralling
Hooked me early on and was an absorbing read of naughty goings in at the top level of USA politics

Gripping and fascinating
It was a recommendation because I am very interested in politics.A real page turner that I didn’t want to end and I desperately want to know what happened next. Cannot remember the last time I enjoyed a political thriller so much. Well written and excellent description.

My first Gavin Esler book but not by last, loved it. A brilliantly different political intrigue with a mix of characters clearly based on real people - but despite being written a few years ago felt very up to date in the mad politics of today.

Gavin Esler is clearly a master of the political thriller.
Interest starts in the first pages and never flags. It is highly realistic. The many characters are expertly portrayed and totally realistic, as are the settings, particularly those in the Scottish Highlands. Tension is built up and maintained right up to the final pages where the readers are more or less left to decide for themselves what happens next. A terrific read!

Thought provoking and a great read ,.......
I bet this is closer to the truth than we will ever know. There are bound to be many elements of truth truth contained within this book. It's as well as don't know a lot of what goes on. This is a great read and makes me think!!!

Not his best work.
His first book, The Scandalous Man is much better. This book has a bit too much going on and quite a bit is rather unbelievable. Hope now that he has retired from the BBC he will turn out some better books.

Gripping read!
Good plot with unexpected twists and turns which kept my attention throughout. Is it possible that these events could happen?
