It saved My Life
This book is the best book I ever read about anxiety! When I read it I understood that even I could be free from my anxiety if I could learn how John did. I bought his second book the second I closed this. John is a person I really really want to have as my own counsler. His way out of anxiety is combinated with traditionelly ways and old ones from "the unknown word" that is something I belive in. The book is easy to read even for a person that not have english as first language. (I'm from Sweden). The story of his life is described in a way that really caught you and I feelt like as I was beside him not just reading about him. He gave me hope to carry on and I am now reading his second book and after just a bit in it I feel so much better. So READ this book if it so will be the only book you read in your life!

Meditation guru
It presents a personal and intimate account of the authorβs struggle with anxiety and mental illness, offering insights into the therapeutic process and the power of meditation. I found the book's real-life narrative eye-opening and appreciated the author's openness about his journey. But I couldnβt help but feel that the book, while inspiring isnβt addressing the complexities of mental health. The book draws inspiration from After the Ecstasy, the Laundry by Jack Kornfield, which sets a tone that suggests a balance between moments of peace and the ongoing struggles of daily life. This approach is commendable, but I felt that the emphasis on the continuous battle for health sometimes overshadowed the moments of genuine peace and recovery. As I read through the narrative, I found myself yearning for more moments where the author delves deeper into the peaceful aspects of recovery, rather than focusing primarily on the struggle. Another point of contention for me was the book's focus on meditation as a key tool for managing anxiety. While I recognize and respect the benefits of meditation, I felt that the book leaned too heavily on this single approach. In my experience, mental health recovery is multifaceted, and I would have appreciated more diverse strategies beyond meditation.

Thank you, John, for sharing such deeply profound and troubling journeys throughout your life!
There aren't many people who would honestly and concisely divulge such personal and private information in an attempt to enlighten and protect other people who may be inclined to explore every nuance of spiritualism, reality versus possible neurosis, hallucinations, and physical manifestations of that exploration. I found the information in this book to be extremely helpful. How far is too far to veer off into unknown religions, cultures, and beliefs, without a firm psychological background, and vast experiences in alternative energies or mental practices upon which to build upon? I have always been an inquisitive soul, so I appreciate the information provided by the author which may very well have prevented myself and other creative individuals from delving into mysteries best left alone or to the professionals in their various fields of expertise. Thanks, John, for saving me from my natural curiosity in the strange, bizarre, unknown, and mystical realms, that I have no business exploring. I appreciate the courage that it took for you as a professional therapist and hypnotherapist. to write honestly and completely about your experiences, difficulties, and hardships and use your own name, rather than using a non-de-plume; You're an inspiration for all of the people in the world experiencing some of the problems that you've been through, or are presently going through. Thank you, John Crawford!!!ππππππππππππ

comforting style that is like having a conversation with a friend
I really appreciated the gift of having this book. Mr. Crawford writes in a compassionate, understanding, and very down to earth, comforting style that is like having a conversation with a friend, who understands what it's like dealing with anxiety and depression, and offers hope! The roots of anxiety and depression are explored, and many topics are delved into that are most definitely thought provoking. One take away is that I realize and feel that I am so much more than just what meets the eye. Much resonated with me as he recounted his extraordinary experiences, over years, in the battle with anxiety and depression that he ultimately won. I will likely be seeking out more works from this author. Thank you, John, for this comforting and soothing gift - of insight, wisdom and understanding that is in this book.

Truly Fascinating Read
Dear Anxiety, This is my Life!! Is probably the most fascinating book I've read in years. As John points out several times throughout the book, people may have doubts about some of his practices and write it off as "new-age" or "out there." If you read this book with an open mind, I promise you will be absolutely blown away!! Seriously, blown away! I've learned more from this book than I have in 20 years of conventional therapy for anxiety. There were times I was actually screaming at the book (John), Go to the damn doctor!! I'm glad he didn't. His determination to do things his way is the reason this book exists. Thank you for sharing your story, for your honesty, and for your openness. I highly recommend this book, not only to those that suffer from anxiety, depression and panic, but to the families and friends of those who suffer.

Amazing detail and life experiences you can relate to!
Anyone who has anxiety with mixed symptoms added in, or anything similar will be wowed by this book. If you do not have any mental health issues and want to understand what suffering people experience this will be great to read. Not difficult to read and not written above the typical persons ability to comprehend. Take the time to read and you will not be disappointed.

Comments on anxiety book and inquiry about other books
This is a very good book. I am just getting started but I tried the first part of the book using the CALM that they talked about and it really helped and calmed me down. Also it taught me anxiety was an emotion which I did not know. I plan on getting the book before it when I get paid since this one helped me. If you have others on stress and anxiety and how to remind yourself to quit being a victim I would really like to know about them. Thank you.

What an amazing book, what an amazing writer!
I bought this book immediately after buying John's self help book on anxiety. I couldn't put this book down, not only is this guy a world of very useful information but he is a fantastic writer, I read 2 of his books each within a week and am about to purchase the next, I couldn't put them down. I highly recommend this book to any anxiety/depression sufferer and even to people who don't suffer as it is such a good read. This poor guy has been to hell and back literally and he makes me feel I'm not alone with my horrendous anxiety struggles. What a book and what a writer! Highly highly recommended. Thank you John.

A very honest personal experience of struggle
Relatable, shocking, eye-opening, and vulnerable. I enjoyed this book because it was raw! His experiences make me feel less alone. This isn't a book to cure your anxiety. it's a book of struggle and experience. I really loved the honesty. I felt like I was sitting with John as he told his story personally to me. Well written

A Beautiful Thing...Oozing Humanity
It's always reassuring to read a book that so obviously is written by someone who is simply telling a warts and all account of their actual life experience. I can smell a charlatan from a mile off and this guy is the real thing. A fascinating read and ultimately a story of hope which is a priceless resource to give to others. Would recommend to anyone suffering from anxiety on any level.. Thank you Mr Crawford

Sad that he had to resort to anti depressants in ...
A harrowing read, I have struggled with anxiety for years, to be honest, this book scared me and has not helped me, although I could not put it down I had to continue to the end. Sad that he had to resort to anti depressants in the end leaving me feeling disappointed for him. Not bashing drugs as I've been on mine over 20 years, was glad to then read it was only for a short time, as I am proof that they dont work forever and impossible to get off them after so long.Glad he is feeling well now.
