Superb deep fat fryer
I stopped using deep fat fryers a few years ago as I found it impossible to remove all the stubborn glue like oil from all the crevices as it built up everywhere. I spent more time cleaning them than I did cooking and eating the meals. I love good chips though so got an air fryer and used McCains oven chips in it. It took a while to devise the best way to get them crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, but it meant cooking them for 10 minutes on a low heat to defrost them, leave to stand for a while then another 10 minutes at about 40 degrees after giving them a good toss, then a final 10 minutes at maximum heat to brown them off. They were ok but a lot of the chips had black bits and lots of the bags had too many broken bits so I usually threw at last 10% away in the bottom of the bag. The chips were getting more and more expensive and often my supermarket didn’t have any in stock so I started to think about cooking my own again.I had an old electric one in my loft which had been there for several years so I dug it out. Bought a bag of suitable potatoes and a bottle of corn oil as I didn’t want any unhealthy oils and tried it out.For 2 of us 2 medium sized potatoes provided plenty of chips. I bought a crinkle cutter as I always found crinkle cut chips so much better, softer inside and no sharp overcooked edges.I realised that buying chips was costing an awful lot more than necessary and if the weight of the chips in the bag were compared to the same weight in peeled potatoes it would be considerably more per kilo for the shop bought chips.Having established that the home made chips were very much tastier, not greasy and a fraction of the price, I decided to find the best chip fryer I could that would avoid the awful job of keeping it clean and not having to throw it away once a year as the oil would be baked on in all the seams, edges and places I couldn’t remove it from. After a few weeks of searching I came across the Tefal Olioclean, 2 litre. Having watched the video I was so impressed with the way it works and the thought that had gone into it so solve all the problems, I ordered one. It was expensive but worth every penny as you can’t expect something this good without paying the price it justifies. It will pay for itself in time as I will not be buying oven chips from supermarkets anymore, in fact I reckon this will save me at least £8.00 a month. The way the oil empties is really clever and so efficient. The oil, once drained into the container at the bottom of the fryer is clean, I wipe the crumbs out of the bowl with kitchen towel and put the removal parts, apart from the element, in the dishwasher and they come out like new. The element can be cleaned separately and once its all clean and put back together it looks like new again with the oil safely stored in the container below.I am very, very pleased with this chip fryer and can’t think of anything negative to say about it. The look, the price, the efficiency, the easy cleaning and the delicious chips are all you could want from a chip fryer. With this chip fryer, a pressure cooker and baking my own bread, I only shop once a fortnight now and spend half of what I used to on food while eating good quality, tasty food home cooked food.UPDATE…..the second time I used this fryer it leaked when I used the filtration system, the third time it did it again so I contacted Amazon who were more than happy to accept it back. I didn’t want to give up that easily and still wanted the fryer so replacing it was no guarantee another one would be any different. Having read through all the feedback it seems most of them leak. I contacted Tefal Customer Service and they couldn’t come up with a solution apart from sending it back and having taken the model ref no. they would check it or faults, in the meantime they were confident that a replacement would not leak.I wasn’t confident about this being a solution so I looked at it again and thought about it for a while, then decided that it could be as simple as the air in the box causing the problem during the last part of the emptying as the air had nowhere to go. I removed the plug from the box, heated the oil to 140deg and selected filtration, waited and watched till it started to empty. It emptied without a drop of oil leaking.I removed the box and replaced the plug and all was fine underneath.I will try it again this evening and if the result is the same the problem is solved and maybe someone from Tefal will do a modification or add this to the instructions. Hope this helps other people who have to put wads of kitchen roll under their leaky fryer!UPDATE 2I have just used it again without the screw-in plug on the oil container. Held my breath when I heard the click indicating that the valve had opened and watched and waited. All the oil drained and absolutely all of it went into the oil box, not a drip anywhere else! This completely solves the problem of the oil leakage that happens in the last few minutes of the oil transfer.I hope Tefal see this and make a modification to the screw so that the air can enter the box as the oil leaves it without actually removing the screw completely just in case the screw gets lost as I doubt if these screws are available as a separate purchase. This has been a very long feedback report so I apologise if anyone has found it a complete bore…I just hope it solves the problem for some of you.

Easy to clean fryer! Save money on oil
Very happy with the purchase! Finally found a deep fryer which is super easy to clean. Large basket means we can cook the family meal in just one go. Heats up quickly with the option to select the temperature. Built in timer which can be easily activated and beeps once up. We did have an issue with the oil draining in the beginning. There is a small screw cap on the back of the oil box which was done up tight, when the oil was draining, the air in the box had no where to go which caused the oil to drip on the countertop. We've found that leaving the screw slightly undone ( just enough so that air can leave ) works perfectly. Oil drains perfectly now with no mess at all. Overall a great quality fryer at a respectable price

Old fashioned chips made easy
Fantastic product, so nice to have old fashioned chips. Very easy to use and great the components all come off to wash either in the sink or dishwasher. The container keeps the oil fresh and ready to use again. Excellent value for money. Well made and not too heavy.

Tefal deep fat fryer
Have had this a few months now! And can give an honest review. When the parcel arrived and I removed the deep fat fryer, my 1st thoughts were about the size of the unit!! This is big!! Where am I going to store this, but after a while I found a shelf under my stairs to store it.Loaded up the 3ltrs of oil and away I go!Home made chips for starters! After a couple of minutes I had to remove the lid and dry of the moisture which was excessive. So tried some chicken and moisture was the same. After 4 uses I tried the filter system which I must say is very good!! As to date I've got 8/9 uses of the oil with no tarnished food 👍After the 1st use I noticed an oil after smell in my kitchen and have noticed it after every use, even thow there's ment to be no after smells. All in all, it's got a large basket with plenty of room for the house, smell still similar to other deep fat fryers, size is BIG and doesn't fit in standard kitchen cupboards. Ease of use good, has a timer which is a waste of space no storage for the cable.Yes I would recommend it, ( note I bought the large version) if you are limited on space I would say go for the small one.Have to say the filter system is very good and you get longer out of your oil, note that the oil drains slowly, so when set to drain mode just leave it for about 30mins before cleaning. On that note cleaning is very easy and all main parts are removable and cleanable.👍👍

What a fantastic fryer!!!
Been looking at these for ages now, and been contemplating buying one, I only occasionally deep fry and this time first use I made some crispy chicken (salt and pepper Chinese style) previously I was making use of a small cheap old one I had. This fryer is night and day in comparison, a real pleasure to use, no more messy oil filters or spills, or leaving oil in the fryer, with bits mixed in etc the filtration system takes all the hassle out of deep frying! I can happily turn the knob and it empties the tank into the blue section which filters as it dispenses and then give the whole top section a quick clean. This was the main reason I went for this model. Really simple, also dishwasher safe (however it’s simply and quicker to clean in the sink!)Cooking wise, temps hold very well setting using a little dial on the top, there is lots of space to keep things cooking evenly in the basket, the little timer on top is simple but effective, very sturdy and simple to use. I would say the whole package is excellent value for money. On a final note… I honestly can’t believe it took me this long to invest in this. Game changer for occasional use or regular fryers, I’m throwing my old fryer out tomorrow! If your thinking ‘do I, don’t I’, just get one. Thank me later!

Best fryer, Ever!
Very easy to use, very well designed, easy to clean and change oil. Oil lasts much longer with the filter system. 5 stars and certainly worth the extra expense, was still a great price on black Friday offers.
