Used in conjunction with a larger fryer unit
I use this for finishing chips. After an initial first cook in sunflower oil, I wanted a unit for doing the second cook with beef dripping. Whilst it's not advised to use beef dripping, as long as you heat it in the microwave, remove it from the unit after use, before it cools you'll be fine. That said, sunflower oil is more appropriate for most stuff and easier to work with, so that's perfect for the larger unit. This works really well, with the exception that I'd say it's no way safe around kids, I mean not even in the safe house, it's just not stable enough, it's essentially not much bigger than an extra large coffee mug and a bit less stable. For a single adult, or two, it's great. The unit does the temperature it says it can, which might sound obvious, but the larger unit I bought doesn't achieve this, being some 30 oC low. This unit will do about a potato of chips (which is fine as I can just do something else whilst this is doing a second batch, because I'm using it dedicated. I'd say for it's size, don't get any ideas about doing anything else, also because it's a tall cylinder with less surface area, stuff like nuggets isn't a great idea. This unit is really nice as a compliment to a bigger fryer.

Ideal.
I have a 3litre fryer that just sits there because it needs to much oil and is clumbersome to use and take a lot to clean. This 0.5 litre of oil is fryer is ideal for 1-2 people depending on what you are frying.Good points:small, heats up quickly, cooks in 10 minutes.not as smelly as a bigger one,can change the oil more often as it uses a lot less, delivered quickly.Bad points: none really,if the oil is on the max before adding food,it can bubble over a little bit! Keep the oil just below the max and don’t put to much in and it will be fine, also its a good idea to put a plate under it to catch any overspill.

Great little chip fryer for one that doesn't take much space.
Brilliant for one person. It's not a big portion of chips on one cooking but you can always cook two. Takes about half a liter of oil. I used corn oil with no bubbling or overflow even though I put in enough oil to just below the high mark. I also used frozen hips. If you look on frozen chip packet directions, they tell you whether they're suitable for a chip fryer. I used frozen Steak Cut Chips and they came out delicious. Takes 12-15 mins for frozen chips suitable for a chip fryer. I followed the advice of a previous reviewer who said to lower the basket slowly. I'll add to that by saying to put your chips in the basket ready while you wait for the oil to heat up and pack it with the chips that are not too long otherwise you don't get many in there. I pretty much had it packed close to the top. Recommend this small machine for one.

Handy little fryer but beware!
I bought this for my mother who is in her late 80's and she loves it. It is capable of cooking oven chips in 5 mins when up to temp (which usually takes between 5 and 10 mins) and the basket is big enough for one decent sized portion. There are one or two safety related issues that stop me giving it more than 3 stars however. If you follow the manufacturers instructions and fill the oil to the internal Max line then a basket full of frozen chips or scampi etc will cause the oil to bubble up over the rim of the device and because the lid has no catch to keep it shut you may find boiling oil spilling over your counter. If you are cooking full baskets of frozen chips etc. then filling the oil to the Min level works fine. The second issue is that being such a lightweight device it can be knocked over easily and this is not helped by the small slippy feet it is mounted on. Make sure you place it in a safe position before you start. It's easy to clean and it only uses 0.5L of oil. On the whole for the price its a useful bit of kit. So far it's been used to cook, Chips, Onion Rings, Fish (battered and breaded), Bacon, Chicken (nuggets and floured) and Scampi.

Product is perfect. Highly recommend!
The product is fantastic, can't fault it. It's so small but it works! I can cook 2 sausages at once, a handful of chips at once and 2 hash browns at once. It's definitely worth it if you live alone, like myself, or if you have a small kitchen, like myself. It takes up the same amount of room as a 2 slice toaster (only round not oblong). Highly recommend! The company, however, is another story. Firstly, I ordered this and a couple days later a "fat free microwaveable rack" arrived, I tried not to take it personally (that they sent me fat free instead of fat fryer). I called and told them but she acted like it was my fault and that I must have ordered the fat free thing. I sent her a copy of my receipt and she apologised, sent out my actual product and arranged to collect the fat free thing. It was never collected though. It was arranged twice and nobody came. I was in the middle of moving at the time, which they knew, so I didn't have time for waiting in my Mums house all day. If you order this product, which I do highly recommend by the way, then make sure you have a copy of your order number and payment details.

Small, small and smaller than you think
Small, and I do mean small. Can just about cook enough chips from cutting one small potatoe. Although this was just for mum mum to use on her own, as she only wanted a few fries, she normally has to cook two lots as it’s reallyyyyyyy small!

Poor Performance
The Fryer did not perform well. It took too long to reach the optimum temperature to fry chips! In all honesty - it would be better to use a deep frying pan which has good heat conduction.

Small deep fat fryer
I ordered this small fat fryer just so I could get a one portion of chips. I was totally surprised at the size, looked like a dolls gadget. But thrilled with it does exactly what it says. My chips were done to perfection, and I even did my Chinese sweet & sour balls in it, again done to perfection. So if anyone is looking for a small fryer I recommend this, especially if you live in your own.
