RTMMFG - MAPP and Propane Gas Torch
I personally do very little in the way of plumbing work that involves soldering copper fittings (the guy I work with does that), but i do a little on occasion and usually borrow my dad’s Rothenberger gas torch, so I thought I would pick up this one from RTMMFG.The torch itself feels pretty nice in the hand, with a reasonably chunky plastic body that seems pretty sturdy and has a decent weight to it.On the bottom of the handle is a standard screw thread for attaching either a Propane or MAPP gas bottle and at the front of towards the top is the ignition/on switch. At the back of the handle is a knob for adjusting the amount of gas/flame and just above the ignition switch is a safety lock so that the gun doesn’t ignite accidentally when picking it up.At the top you have the burner tube with a brass nozzle that screws onto the end.***** In The Box *****1 x RTM-030 Auto Ignition Torch***** Installation / Usage *****Using the product is pretty straight forward. You simply screw the torch onto a propane or MAPP gas bottle, turn the dial on the back to allow the gas to flow and then squeeze the trigger, which will automatically ignite the flame. You can then adjust the flame using the dial.If the trigger is locked, you can lift the safety button and rotate it slightly to release is.This safety lock can also be used to lock the trigger in the on position for those times when you need the flame for longer periods of time, saving you from having to keep it pressed.***** Conclusion *****For just over £30, I think the RTM-030 offers pretty good value for money and works well.I like having the auto ignition feature, as this saves having to try and light the torch with a match, making it safer to use. Some of the more expensive torches do have a special valve to help prevent them from flaring up and extinguishing the flame when used upside down (it stops the liquid in the bottle from preventing the gas to flow), which this one does not have, so if I was doing a lot of soldering work, I would probably spend the extra money on a Rothenberger, but for the light user like myself this is perfectly adequate and a good buy.

Solid construction
RTMMFG MAPP Propane Torch Portable Gas Torch for PlumbingAs no gas was supplied with this torch, neither do I have any gas to hand I was unable to thoroughly test this gas torch out, instead I can only really comment on the build quality and on what you receive. The torch arrives in a tough box, there is no included instruction booklet, although there are printed instructions on the box itself. My past experience of similar propane torches is that they connect to a hose which in turn connects to a gas bottle. It does appear that this is different and screws direct into a compressed gas cylinder. Please correct me if I'm wrong? The torch seems well made, it is very heavy as it appears to be made mostly from brass, as all good gas torches should be. The nozzle is heavy gauge brass, this can be rotated by loosening the lock nut so that you do not need to invert the gas cylinder which may cause liquid gas to be sucked into the torch. On top is a large brass flow valve which controls how much gas flows through the torch, thus controlling the flame size. There is also a low flame button, it is recommended not to use low flame for extended periods of time due to the risk of overheating.Overall this is certainly a well made torch that is sturdy and up to the task.Thank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.

Dangerous
The media could not be loaded. This nozzle should not be used for any soldering if this was under a floor or in a tight space this could be extreme hazardous. Thea need taken down from the sight immediately
