I had a stroke a couple years ago, and have very limited use of my left side at the moment. Walking, standing for long periods, and getting onto my transfer bench in the tub has certainly been a major challenge, and cannot always be done with the utmost safety. Amazon recommended this item for me several months ago (hey, give credit where credit is due, right?), and after checking it out I decided to go for it. And oh my gosh, it is unbelievable how easy this makes the transfer process. This bench slides from side to side, and pivots 90 degrees. It can slide while pivoting and vice versa. So, I start out with the bench slid all the way out of the tub, pivoted 180 degrees away from the tub so I can just sit in it once I enter the bathroom and make my turn. From there, I can pivot the seat clockwise, sliding the bench a little bit in toward the tub at the same time so my legs can clear the toilet. The seat clicks into place facing the showerhead side of the tub, but still slid outside the tub. I put my right leg over the tub edge and into the tub, get some help to put my left leg in as I slide further into the tub, and then "click!" it locks into place. I then pivot a little bit more to get some extra room, and I'm ready to get clean. It literally takes less than 5 minutes, when it used to take about 15 and be a lot less safe. The bench is extremely well-made and sturdy, and all the sliding and locking mechanisms have worked flawlessly to date. You might want to cut off the seatbelt if you don't use it, because otherwise it gets in the way. It's made of a kind of squishy, comfortable, firm foam. If you can't tell, I can't speak more highly of this product. It's worth every penny, and if it broke today I'd order another one tomorrow. Vastly increases quality of life, in that it makes showering a ton easier. Most highly recommended!

As a 415-pound bariatric patient, I was hopeful that this chair would provide the independence and convenience promised in its description. While the chair does indeed move smoothly and is built robustly, significant design flaws hinder its usability. Pros: -Smooth Movement: The chair operates smoothly, making transitions seamless and comfortable. -Build Quality: It feels sturdy and well-constructed, which is reassuring. Cons: -Button Placement: The buttons to control the chair’s movements are poorly positioned, making it impossible for me to reach and operate them independently. This is a significant oversight for a product intended for bariatric use. -Lack of Remote Control: There is no remote control option, meaning I still need to rely on a caregiver for assistance at the beginning and the end of bathing. This defeats the purpose of having a chair designed to promote independence. Overall, while the chair has potential, its current design does not cater well to the needs of its potential heavy audience, who would be seeking a chair to hold significant weight (as opposed to others). A remote control or better button placement would significantly improve functionality and user-friendliness.

Supportive, supportive seat but not hard, seat‘s not cold or l slippery. Seat turns & slides well. Good handles. The seat turning button is hard to use—located between the legs which is ok but instead of pulling UP. You have to push it DOWN & the mechanism doesn’t have a way to good way to hold onto the bar. Same with the button on the side that allows the seat to slide. Hard for someone to reach but even worse are the mechanics of the button that makes it hard for the pt to use so they don’t require another person’s help but it’s hard for the caretaker to use too. Other than the buttons itMs a great chair but it would have been better to test with ppl with limited abilities or arthritis.
