Rugged and reliable
I have been wearing Merrells for years and I’ve tried other brands; North Face, Arcteryx, Salomon but I keep coming back to these. I wear them everyday at home, work and on holiday and they are comfortable and hard wearing. I tend to buy a size up from my normal size and this works well. They are waterproof in normal wet weather walking around town but are limited by the low cut of the shoe so walking through deeper puddles or wet grass in more rural settings will be more of an issue but this is the same for any trainer style shoe. The sole is rugged and hard wearing and provides decent grip and is well cushioned being comfortable on rocky ground. I have run in these but they are not a dedicated running shoe and are more a good cross trainer/approach shoe.

Hard wearing and very comfortable
This is my second pair of these shoes. The first have lasted over 2years in daily use. Still waterproof but just starting to look a bit tatty.I like the fact they are available in half sizes, It makes a big difference to me.Intend to use my original pair for rougher outdoor work.I highly recommend them

Dubious safety on wet rocks/pavers.
I've found these comfy, warm and waterproof with good traction on country paths consisting of muddy paths, wet grass and stoney ground. However, on tidal rocks, wet pavements and similar smooth, wet surfaces, they're unpredictably slippery and I'd warn of significant danger of slips on such surfaces. Use great caution !!!They also have a strange 'klop' sound in the sole of each shoe, firstly in the left shoe followed a week later by the right. It's annoying at first but I'm used to it now. Finally, they're significantly undersized especially if you have a high instep like me but they were the best of 5 brands tried at the time.I'm a 10.5 to 11 in street shoes but bought these size 12 and in truth, I could have got a better fit with another half size up or maybe a 13.

Super comfortable hiking shoes
I wore there shoes straight out of the box for an 18km hike with no issues. They are medium weight, provide good support and appear very durable with minimum signs of wear even after climbing several mountains. They have performed well even in wet weather, remaining mostly dry due to the breathable GoreTex fabric. The shoes have a suede type appearance with GoreTex cut outs.

Hard wearing, waterproof but lightweight and stylish
This is the third pair of these hiking shoes I’ve bought because they’re so good and I like having different colours. As a woman with wide feet I buy these men’s shoes because they have the width to accommodate thick walking socks but are lightweight and stylish enough to suit me. I never get wet feet when I’m out with the ramblers and the first pair, which I’ve had for six years, still show no signs of wear on the soles.

These are excellent walking shoes
Looking for a salomon quality walking shoe and found these at a very good price. They are well made, from a good company and very comfortable. Haven't had them long but am very impressed.Only con is that they appear to be small made. I originally ordered a uk7 which just fitted but would have been too tight for walking.I was able to easily exchange it for a UK 7.5 which was perfect andexchange process was painless. I'd highly recommend.

Good soles, poor tops.
I’ve had plenty of walking shoes/approach shoes over the years. What I have found with my last few pairs and these especially is that the tops of the shoe wear out before the sole. These lasted just a year before the crease where my foot bends started to give up and developed into a hole, same place on both shoes. The heel cushion on the inside of both heels is also on its way out. It’s a shame as these were comfy shoes and with vibrim soles you can’t go wrong, just wish the tops would last longer….

Best shoe ever
Very comfortable, the gore Tex in opinion is the best water proofing, and they last a long time

Coming from a pair of Salomon X Ultra 4
As the title says, I normally use Salomon shoes.I've only had these Merrell for about 2 weeks. And this far, I love them. They are far from as soft or light as the Salomon X Ultra 4.But still, they feel nice, have a bit thicker sole and great grip, and they don't feel as heavy or as hard as I thought they would.I had 20 Euro / 200 Skr discount in my account, and I bought these during prime days, so they were already discounted a lot,so I can't really complain. For the prize I got them for, they are probably the best shoes I have ever bought.

(badeando torrentes, no he llegado a mojar los pies...). Agarran bien, y con senderos con piedra suelta también se desenvuelve bien.Las recomiendo.

Gave me blisters
My old pair 10 years ago was great but these gave me horrible blisters on the Camino. Changed to Hokas and no problems after that. The Merrels run a bit hot too
