I love cooking Indian dishes and tend to use a large pinch of saffron when I make pilau rice. The usual glass pots of saffron that you can buy in supermarkets were only lasting for two meals and seemed very expensive and hugely wasteful in terms of packaging. Therefore, I decided to give this saffron a try as there is a LOT more saffron in this little plastic box than there is in the other glass pots that I had bought and this one purchase lasted for ages. The saffron itself seemed really good quality and gave a very nice flavour and colour to the food. I guess the best recommendation that I can give is that it's so good that I've just purchased another pot, as I've finally run out! :)

For those cooking amateurs (like me) I simply didn't realise how strong saffron is as a flavour and how it dominates the dish. As a rule of thumb you only need one strand per family-sized portion. Having said that it is very good for you and advisable to use on a regular basis for that very reason. The product itself is of extremely high quality and it arrived very quickly. The yellow plastic box comes sealed and wrapped with string, but to be honest the box self seals very tightly so the string is really only for decoration. It was cheaply priced too. Supermarkets sell branded saffron with only a few strands inside for several pounds. I "guesstimate" buying the same amount through those channels would cost upwards of £30 so c. £3 delivered is an absolute bargain! Overall extremely satisfied with the purchase and I highly recommend it

Given that saffron costs more per gram than gold, it is a prime target for people engaging in food fraud. Having sniffed, cooked with and tasted this saffron, I am pretty convinced that it is indeed saffron. The quality seems reasonably good also, although I must admit that I prefer the Iranian/Persian saffron (that is now easier to obtain with some sanctions against Iran lifted), which is a darker red and has a stronger flavour. This Spanish saffron is very good value per money, costing less per gram at the time of writing than most other decent saffron. On delivery, the best before date for this saffron was almost three and half years away.

I was looking round for some decent Saffron as the stuff you get in the supermarkets is way overpriced (I really do think with Schwartz you are paying for the fancy glass bottle!) and I found this little gem of an offer on here! I did wonder for a while if i was seeing things...4gm of quality Spanish Saffron for under £7.00! Anyway after reading the reviews on here I decided to take the plunge and I am so pleased I did, This is really good quality for the money and is a great value as this quantity will last me a fair while, nice box too! If you are a bit dubious about the price/quality of this product then don't be, I assure you this is a top quality product and you really won't be disappointed. PS: Great service from the supplier too!

I dont write a lot of reviews. I felt compelled to write on this product. The quality of Saffron is attributed to its colour and fragrance. You get a lot of not so good stuff in the market. At this price i thought it might not be a good product. I am however pleasantly surprised with this. It has amazing fragrance and colour and you can feel the quality. Great to flavour milk or water or use on its own. Buy one you would love it..

I recently found a link on YouTube about how to distinguish between genuine and fake saffron, which was very helpful. I feel that this product is genuine, and although not of the highest quality of Spanish saffron, it is perfectly good for day to day cooking. I make saffron tea and add it to paella - the colour and flavour is excellent. I understand that the Saffron industry in Spain is the most strictly regulated, so there is less of a chance that you will get a fake product.

second time I've bought this, it is great value and a really good saffron with a lovely taste when added to Spanish food, it is particularly great when making cheats Alioli where you mix Helmans with fresh garlic and about 10 strands of saffron, just mix it all up and sprinkle another 5 or 6 strands on top and pop in the fridge for 2 to 3 hours, looks really good as the saffron bleeds into your mayo and tastes fab!

I have ordered this product before and it is excellent. Purchasing small quantities of saffron in supermarkets is very expensive and from experience, can be a little 'tired'. Azafran's product is well packaged and of high quality. It lasts me a long time and the flavour is fantastic (store it in a dark place away from direct sunshine).
