Delightful alternative to the supermarket.
Extremely pleased with our bread maker. The manual is very user friendly and easy to follow. The plastic utensils are all you need and a nice quality. We made our first 1lb white loaf and used the delayed timer. It was very easy to wipe clean and remove the paddle. The LED display is very well placed giving easy access and is simple to use. The viewer in the top is a great feature to have as you can check the progress without opening. Our warm, breakfast loaf was delightful with a nice fine crispy crust. We are looking forward to making some of the other recipes like the rolls and pizza. It does all the hard work for you. A great alternative to the highly processed supermarket alternatives. I would definitely buy again.

Fantastic bread!
I've delayed reviewing this breadmaker until I've used it a number of times. Pro's Easy to use. Clear and easy instruction book with lots of recipes that actually work. Easy to set up and buttons. Handy timer function. A non stick pan that bread comes away cleanly with no residue. Easy to clean. Perfect bread every time that tastes fantastic! Compact and light enough to store in a cupboard. Cons (just the one) The blade occasionally gets embedded into the loaf leaving a hole. Tips 1. I use my own blend of 50/50 Marriage's very strong wholemeal and plain flour and I add extra wholemeal bran. Also, I omit the oil and honey not sugar as a healthier option, sometimes I add a seed mix. Use prog 3, dark for a crunchy crust 2. I premix my favourite dry ingredients into labelled resealable bags, and store in a large sealed container, so no faffing about and saves time, just add water (and oil if used). Also, saves £ Versa shop packs, taste better as well. Conclusion A good valued breadmaker that's compact and produced fantastic bread.

Good value
Only used it once so far, made a basic white loaf that came out really nice. Compact size ,quite easy to operate. Not to impressed with the quality of the cup and measuring spoons that are supplied with it would have been better if they were stainless steel instead of plastic, but for the price can’t complain.

Great buy
This replaced a really old MR bread maker that finally died. First try and it made a perfect loaf. Really easy.

Reasonable priced bread maker
I bought this to replace a 30+ year old Hinari that has given sterling service, but I decided to retire it, due to the Teflon lining of the pan starting to wear off, and the plastic lid starting to smell of 'Old plastic' I replaced the mixing pan bearing and seal around 6 years ago, but It doesn't look like the new one is designed to have this done, should it ever need it.. The new one has a tough act to follow.. I have only made one loaf so far using a recipe that doesn't contain dried milk powder or oil. For reference, 17.5 oz (500g)of strong bread flour,1.5 tsp of caster sugar, 1.5 tsp of salt,1/2 oz of butter, and 11.2 oz of tepid water and 2 tsp of powdered yeast.( we had only imperial scales when we bought the first bread maker..) This turned out quite well, if a little well done, using the medium crust colour, and the 1 1/2 lb loaf size. This new bread maker has quite a bit more functionality, and can bake different size loaves, so some experimentation with quantities and settings will I'm sure make delicious fresh bread... The enclosed instruction book, like other reviews have said, is a little strange, but a set of digital scales make the precise measuring quite straightforward.

Makes superb quality bread.
After a Panasonic that eventually dies we took a chance on this bread maker. What a good decision, follow the recipes in the manual and you can't go wrong. It makes lovely fluffy bread and it's easy to use. And for the money!!. Highly recommended.

Perfect
Makes perfect loaves at quarter of the price of an artisan loaf, from the high Street. With a little bit of practice you can adapt the ingredients to your own liking. After a week or two of use, you will be able to throw the ingredients together without measuring by using your eye. A couple of minutes preparation only. You will have a small hole in the center of the loaf due to the paddle that mixes the bread dough. It doesn't bother our family but there are a couple of simple ways to avoid it which you can research.

Don’t buy this
This is the third Fastbake I have owned. The previous two gave 10 years each of great bread making before giving up. Sadly, this one has proved unable to bake anything but a partly cooked, only partially risen loaf before refusing to turn on at all. Fuses and ring main were fine, it was definitely the bread maker. At least part of the problem seems to be that the machine has been changed in some way. It came with very different recipes, for example only 3/4 teaspoon of yeast for the large wholemeal loaf, compared with 1 1/4 teaspoons previously. In addition, it came with an addendum on a separate sheet specifying that room temperature should be between 15 and 34 degrees (no problem with that) but also that all ingredients should be warmed to 21 degrees. Since I don’t heat my house to that high a temperature this was pretty well impossible in cold weather, and in any case the ingredients would need to be taken out of the cupboard to warm up for ages before starting to bake. Also new is that the water for the loaf should be between 21 and 37 degrees, with a recommendation that a thermometer is used for all liquids, i.e. water and oil, thus making a palaver out of something I used to be able to do pretty much on auto pilot after all these years. I contacted their customer services about the changes and the response indicated that the changes related to the ‘updated’ machine. When I asked how and why the machine had changed the response was that all the information was in the instruction booklet, which it isn’t. So after recommending the machine to friends and family over the years, all of whom have had great results, I can no longer recommend it. I have returned it and bought a different make.
