How to achieve peace and quiet night or day living with an unrelaxed cat
This definitely calms my cat, and previous cats. I administer it in a needle less syringe, first dissolving it in a tiny pot in about one and a half ml of water which has been measured in the syringe, then stirred with my finger until dissolved. You need to syringe it in several small squirts as slowly as possible. Give the cat some treats or bit of tasty food afterwards: why? Because cats will look forward to this and put aside their dislike of the procedure.BUT you really need to go slowly with the syringe, maybe you should Google using a syringe for oral cat medications.

Very good
If you have a small cat or dog who struggles with anxiety during stressful times—like thunderstorms, fireworks, or trips to the vet—these Zylkene supplements are incredibly helpful. The 75mg capsules are designed for smaller pets (up to 10kg) and use a natural milk protein derivative to promote relaxation without making them drowsy. They are easily administered—you can give them whole, or just sprinkle the powder over a small meal. They really help take the edge off and allow your pet to cope better with short-term, challenging situations. I highly recommend keeping them on hand for predictable events! It has a good price, great quality, and happy to recommend

Bought for my cat
I bought these after reading about them online while looking up ways to help my Girlcat who has been overgrooming one side of her body bald because her brother stresses her out and always wants to bully and be rough. She's also always naturally been the slightly more neurotic one of the two. I did some research and could find no negative side effects or risks, so figured it was worth a try if it meant she could relax in her own home, and if I saw no difference I'd just not buy anymore. Simple. I've been adding it to her morning meal (one capsule's worth) per day for about two weeks now (I've just started the second box) and while I haven't outright witnessed her being more physically relaxed, she hasn't groomed any more patches bald so far that I can tell, and may even be letting the fur in the already bald patches start to grow back a little bit. She's also been far less skittish about him getting in her space, which previously would have resulted in them standing and slapping each other repeatedly and then him chasing her when she ran away, and I've heard more purrs out of her recently than I have in a long time. Based on this, I'm going to keep giving her this supplement unless I see any reason to stop.

Zylkene for my anxious small dog
I had read good reports about Zylkene and, with an anxious small dog who also has itchy feet syndrome (after extensive tests defined as behavioural), I was anxious to try it when the vet recommended it. My dog is under 5k so I had to use the small 75mg capsules, usually used for cats. You have to break the capsules apart (just pull them) and sprinkle the contents on the dog's food. Well, she liked it in her food and licked the bowl clean! But calming results were less spectacular I'm afraid. For the first couple of days she was taking Zylkene, she appeared a tiny bit calmer, but that could just have been me hoping for that result. I purchased the 20 pack and she took the whole lot over the twenty day period, and within a few days there was no difference in her behaviour at all. She was just as anxious (jumping at shadows on her late walk, cowering away from other dogs, scared of people she doesn't know) and still biting her feet. And when she stopped the Zylkene, there was absolutely no change in her behaviour at all. I really, really wish Zylkene had worked for her, but I guess she is one of the 50 out of 100 pets it doesn't work for. I'm now trying her with an Adaptil collar, just hope that works! Just a footnote... I've noticed from the reviews that those dog owners who say Zylkene works well tend to be those who have dogs with particular problems (rather than more general anxiety). I have heard that Zylkene works very well for dogs scared of bonfire night fireworks for example, or for one-off visits to the vet, so I'm not saying it doesn't work. It is very much a 'try it yourself on your pet and see' supplement. My dog enjoyed getting Zylkene in her food and it is relatively cheap, so I'm sorry it didn't work. Hope it works for your pet!

Good for Anxious Cats
2 years ago we got another cat and have been at our wits end as him and my older cat do not get along. And the younger one was becoming quite a bully. I have recently tried these in the evening and my cat just sleeps and he never sleeps well always looking for my other cat. So literal god send means my elder can have some peace and quiet.

Use with caution...Zylkene is not suitable for all cats
We have a 13 year old small, female cat (4kg). She is healthy, not on any medication and has no known allergies, to include milk or lactose. We are due to take our cat on a 2-hour car journey, and after seeking advice from vet we bought Zylkene directly from Amazon, expiry date 10/2024. She appears to have had an adverse reaction to this supplement. We tried Zyklene twice, 12+ hours apart. Being a small cat, we gave her half a capsule in her usual wet food. We noticed a difference in our cat within an hour of her taking it. We believe this made her feel nauseous. The first time she had it, she vomited (to include grass), her pupils and gaze changed and generally she appeared nauseous (crouching posture). The second time, her body language and behaviour changed dramatically and she was not herself at all (we’ve had her for 10+ years and know her well). She stopped vocalising with us (she is usually very chatty), she didn’t want any form of affection from us and just wanted to be left alone, and appeared very miserable/unwell. This could only have been due to the Zylkene, as there had been no other change in her diet. Another reviewer here on Amazon (also giving a one star rating) has reported similar side effects with his cat repeatedly vomiting. If this or other symptoms I've described above has happened to your pet, please contact the manufacturers, Vetoquinol, as currently there is nothing on their packaging to suggest any side effects at all. My advice is to use with caution. It had no positive benefit for our cat.

Absolute life saver
My girl Eve, is a beautiful abyssinian girl in a lil colony with 4 ginger boys. She is naturally very anxious and wary of these boys. I grew up with 6 brothers, so I totally understand how she feels. The vet insisted she was fine, because when she's not around the boys, she's totally fine. She got so anxious she was licking her fur off, but the vet insisted it was a flea allergy, even though she had none. I bought these as a last resort and my god, game changer. She isn't like, friends with the boys and I reckon she never will be as she knows she's better - and she is - but she's way more tolerant. They can now walk by her and she doesn't even raise her head. She's more affectionate, she sleeps in different spots, she's not agressive or angry. She plays again now, with anything and everything. It's like she's a kitten again. She eats it without issue too, I open the capsule and sprinkle it on her food on a morning. I love that it's natural, too, so there's no worries about chemicals. I'd fully recommend it for anyone who has a similar issue.
