Excellent Sharpening Stone. It does as it promises.
I received this product free or discounted for my honest and unbiased review. The stone is well packaged (see attached photos) and is a good size 18cm x 6cm x 3cm and weight just over 500gr.I have to be honest that I have not used such a stone before. We had a different knife sharpener (which is not easy to use and not as good) and when I was offered to review this product, I was excited to try something different hoping that it will be better than what we had been using.I followed the instructions on the product description. It is important to soak the stone for at least 5 minutes. Then place it with its base on a thick towel so it doesn't slide. Now looking further on youtube there at least two different ways to sharpen the knifes. The Japanese and European. I actually tried the Japanese cause I found it easier to use.You will notice that there is a printed branding mark on top, which actually goes rather quick (10min of sharpening). After that the sharpening becomes more smooth on that side. However even with it on top, you will notice that your blades are getting sharper, it just produces a bit more dirt as you sharpen the blades. Maybe the company should move that print to the side instead of being on top of one of the sides.I used both sides. We had some blunt knives that we had stopped using and after running them for 15minutes on the 3000 side, the difference was immediate visible. I then run them for 10min on the 8000 side to give them a more refined result and make them even sharper. Overall I was very happy with the results and I cannot stress enough how much better this product is to what we had previously. The stone looks like it will last for several years. It is very solid and a good size and weight (at least for my hands and knives). It is easy to use and clean. It does as it promises. The price is right, especially if you think that it will actually last for several years.

Great value for money, and works
in short; Despite my concerns and the price point, It works perfectly fine. You will need to practise and invest the time though.I personally spent a lot of time looking into various stones on here around the same price point to try and find one that works. I also spent a long time watching video comparisons and techniques on how to use them because I didn't want to buy and ruin an expensive stone if i wasn't able to get the techniques right. I was also concerned the grit counts aren't accurate, which i still 100% doubt, but it doesn't matter because once you have the technique down, these stones work.It took me multiple attempts to get it right, but once I did it was progressively easier each time I sharpened a knife. Are they as efficient / durable as a stone that costs 60-150 pounds per grit? no, of course not. But with this, the 400 - 1k stone and a leather strop also purchased via amazon, I've been able to bring every knife in my kitchen to razor sharp. Literally shaving sharp. (I now have lots of bald patches on my arms from testing). My one gripe with this stone is visible in the pictures. in the '8000' side there are three clumps of what I'm guessing is adhesive running through it, which causes the knife to skim over when sharpening, meaning i cannot really use the full length of the stone on that side. This has not impacted my ability to use it, but it is an annoyance and i'm hoping it will come out when I eventually 'flatten' the stones..

Decent stone if you need it for home use
Better than average, worthwhile for occasional sharpening of knives etc.Don’t expect Shapton or King quality, it’s definitely behind those stones in quality, but still useful. For the money, it’s ok and I’ve used it as a middle stone between two King stones (didn’t want to pay lots for a middle stone). You’ll notice that when soaked it continually emits air bubbles, which says to me it’s not as tightly packed as other higher quality stones, when made. It does need soaking for longer than a King or Shapton stone (I have mainly King stones, with Shapton stones for final polishing). It is for sure softer and will wear quicker, but I guessed that would be the case, which is fine for what I need it for, which is gap filling in stone grades to speed things up.It’s a decent stone, worth the money, but I wouldn’t buy a whole set of them, nor have these as my only sharpening resource.I sharpen a lot of tools, frequently. If you’re someone who just wants to sharpen home/kitchen knives, I would choose this over your average B&Q type stones everyday of the week - it’s much better than those, but not it’s not a professional stone.I was quite surprised how flat it was out of the box- needed very little flattening on both sides. That said, there was a small imperfection (a lump) in the coarse side which needed removing - no big deal, and you should always flatten the stone - even brand new ones.I would also say the grading is reasonably accurate, the coarse side does feel around 2000grit. The 8000grit feels more like 5000/6000 - my King 6000grit is finer, and my Shapton stones of similar grade feel a country mile different. However, this does polish an edge quite well.HTH

Great stone for the price
This is a great stone for the price. It sure does the job if you know what you are doing. Comes with double rubber protection that serves as anti slide. I'm really happy with my product.
