I never used to use hair "products" until my ex-wife finally got sick of my "furry" hair and directed me to various brands. This was about 25 years ago and I went through every conceivable brand. Surprisingly, going back to my childhood "Brylcream" proved the most effective, but the "fry an egg on your head" observation of my brother when we were kids, resonated with my ex-wife. Fortunately, a local hairdresser had just taken delivery of American Crew (AC) and even though she was charging £13 in 1993 for a pot of it, I gave it a go. Ever since then, I have not used anything else. American Crew Pomade has the right blend of hold, invisibility, fragrance, and economy. I have black, strong, thick hair which when freshly washed sticks up. Blow-drying adds body and volume which is not quite what you want when your hair sticks up naturally. So for the first 30 plus years of my life, I looked like I'd permanently had a fright, unless I went for the crew cut or short back and sides. The short options made me look like "I was going to kill someone" that's how scary they were. So AC Pomade really has changed my life!The beauty of AC Pomade is that it never looks like you have anything in your hair. It gives a nice semi-gloss shine which looks natural and leaves a nice, subtle manly fragrance behind. Additionally, when you've had forty winks, or any other unplanned 'activity" it's simply a matter of slightly damping your hands and running them through your hair to reactivate the Pomade. In fact, it was only last week, that my current wife, who is fastidious in her appearance and mine, taught me something new. The situation was I always applied the Pomade on the top surface of my hair (after my shower) and then blow-dried it with a hair brush. I still had bits towards the back near my hair crown slightly elevated (not sitting down). However, my wife taught me how to deal with this! Basically, put a small amount (a small fingertip) of the Pomade on first going against the direction of the hair style you're doing. (I slick mine back, so I start at the back of my head and spread the Pomade forward to create a fringe). Then you apply another small amount of the Pomade to the top (or other direction) then style as normal. This works brilliantly. It's only taken me 25 years of use to figure out, but I've shared it with you! After I finish blow-drying my hair I damp my hands a little and finger the style. That then leaves a nice shine on my hair and it'll stay that way for the whole day.Here's one last tip which I discovered. AC Pomade is water based which makes it easy to wash out of your hair. It also means you can reactivate it. However, this is also the reason why you should only use a little water when damping your hair down. By a little, I mean, wet your hands and give them a good shake. The residual wetness/damp is sufficient. Also, when making your first application or any application of Pomade, make sure your hands are dry. I normally put the small amount on my hands and rub my hands together. If they're wet, you can't coat your hands and therefore your hair evenly. I always apply AC Pomade to towel dry hair. It's no good on dry hair, so if you have a night shower before bed (which you should do, if you want to get lucky!) and don't have time in the morning for a shower (eeeeeuw!) you should damp your hair before applying.American Crew Pomade really did change my life, well at least my hairstyle and countless ladies between my ex-wife and current wife commented on my hair....and let's face it we don't dress for ourselves, we dress for the opposite sex and our egos.
