I bought this on a whim when it had a very deep discount, despite many review saying the kickstand collapses in on itself. It turns out everyone's using it wrong. You're supposed to pull it open until you hear a solid click, locking it open and making it very stable!The trick is, with the Deck facing you (as if you were playing it), open the stand, then place your hand under the hinge connecting the two pieces of the stand. While stabilizing your Deck with the other hand, keep your fingers straight and use your hand to firmly "backhand" push the larger stand piece outward and away from you, with pressure focused near the hinge. You might feel like you're about to break it, just slowly and steadily exert more pressure until it clicks.Now it won't collapse on itself! In fact, it might feel just as hard to close it again. To do so, cover the larger stand piece with your palm, near the hinge. Again, with fingers straight and firm, slowly exert more pressure with your palm until it collapses. It should feel easier to click open and closed the more you do it.Once I figured out the locking mechanism, I like this waaay more than the kickstand on the more expensive case of one of the more well-known Deck accessory brands. That one was flimsy, didn't lock and eventually came loose causing it to just annoyingly swing during gameplay. This case, on the other hand, solidly looks both OPEN and CLOSED.Finally, although the plastic back isn't the nicest looking, it feels like it will provide much more protection than your usual soft TPU case. Definitely worth it! Both cheaper and better than my previous case!

This review is completely honest and unsolicited (i.e. no prize for a good review).This case fits like a glove. Well manufactured. It's very light and it doesn't feel like it adds much weight. It feels secure in the hand and the hand grips give a more tactile and less slippery feeling than the naked Steam Deck grips (part of why I wanted a protector case). Also, the Steam Deck's handles without the case get warm to hold making it less comfortable as time goes on, and this case helps that. I have medium sized hands and don't have any trouble reaching the controls, the shoulder and trigger buttons, or the rear custom buttons.It's wrap around has all the correct holes for the fan and what seems like ample air flow. I didn't have any trouble attaching my magnetic usb-c adapter (for power and external data).The rear kickstand works well, comes out and locks and unlocks easily (not sure why other reviewers had issues with theirs). It thickens up the rear of the Steam Deck just a little, because of the kickstand but not so much that it doesn't fit in both the original case and my aftermarket case.It also comes with free trackpad stickers, although I haven't tried those yet.I'm very thrilled and pleased with the case indeed! It's an easy recommend to anyone looking to add a protective case to their Steam Deck, whether to protect corners from a short drop or simply to help preserve the original Deck's integrity over time.
