It works like a charm.
I used this to install a wide-range mountain bike derailleur on a drop-bar road bike frame with 10-speed brifters. I've got a couple of hundred miles on it now, and it works like a charm. I've made only one minor adjustment due to cable stretch (new cable). It's a clever and well-made little device.

It works
I’m getting good results with a Shimano Tiagra 4700 10 speed road lever + Deore RD-M5120 Rear Derailleur (10-11 speed) + CS-M4100-10 Cassette (10-Speed), 11-46t. I have a GRX 46/30 hollow tech 2 crank up front. Setup was slightly finicky with the tiny screw. I installed the nifty little gadget on the derailleur side rather than near the handlebars. The Tanpan really saved the day after I naively tried to combine the afore mentioned components. Now I have a pretty neat old 1990 Bianchi Tangent cross-bike with modern components.

It Works!
Using 105 11 speed shifters with SLX clutch 11 speed RD and 11-46 11 speed Suntour cassette. Setup was very straightforward and the shifting is great! I'll admit, with the clutch engaged, shifting isn't as tactile. However with the clutch disengaged shifts as though I had the 105 RD on, so this has nothing to do with the tanpan. The chrome screw on this is a strange (small) size and does seem to be a softer metal, so just choose your philips head wisely. I had no issues with stripping out the head but I did fit 5 different phillips heads before I got the right one. This is a bit pricey, however the build quality is top notch (aside from the little screw) and seems it will last as long as the shimano drivetrain it's attached to.

Five Stars
Worked like a charm on my gravel bike. Ultegra 11speed shifter with a XT clutch style rear derailleur.Update, the first time I went to replace the cable the small screw to hold down the cable stripped. Seems the aluminum it pretty soft. Still kind of works without it. Might try to warranty through WT.

Using a clutch MTB derailleur on a road shifter.
Works great if you have a MTB RD you want to use because of a clutch instead of buying a road specific. The pulley offset works out better as well to 42t.The pinch screw is finicky and non-magnetic so be sure not to drop it and use a 0 phillips for installation.

The answer to my problem
I was using shimano brifters with a mtb rear derailleur on my gravel bike build. Long story short, the cable pull ratios did not match up and using this fixed my problem.

Pricey but works!
Put drop bars and road style brakes/shifters on my fat bike. Wanted to keep my 1x11 MTB drivetrain. Tanpan is the answer.Installation was a little tricky (Perhaps some gear cable is less stiff/more supple which would make it easier). Anyhow, it works perfectly.I withheld a star for two reasons:Firstly - The bent shape created problems for me. My cable routing and rear derailleur configuration require a straight line. The Tanpan twists itself so that the pulley sticks out sideways, unsightly and vulnerable.Secondly - the price! OK the Tanpan saved me a bundle relative to a new derailleur and cassette, but I get a little crazed at having to pay $40+ for such a simple device - Oh wait - I forgot - it's Wolf Tooth
