Hello does this come with a moulded plug? my socket is not in the fire hole.

Yes it does, I cut it off and threaded the wire behind the fireplace and put another plug on to go in the wall socket.

Is the flame effect noisy when operated independently?

No it's not noisey, l did have a problem when I first used it, it was squeaking continuously. I called Glen dimplex an engineer came out ordered a part and was fixed a week later. It's now fine, really good, like it very much.
