Q: Are the doors carved on the cardboard box? If so, may it get teared with use?

The doors for each minifig are perforated. Pretty easy for an adult to open without tearing but kids might do a little more damage.

Q: What is day 5 supposed to be? A llama? A dog?

From what i can read it is a rainbow Llama!
