Big Improvement!
I went deer hunting via boat this year and it was well below freezing in the morning. My shift and throttle cables were frozen so my boat wouldn't shift gears out of neutral or throttle up and down. I'm a person with a contingency plan for everything, but this problem was completely unforeseen. We put some hand warmers on the lines and waited an hour and luckily they melted and we were able to go. When I got home I immediately ordered new lines. These Seastar lines replaced my mercury ones on a 2001 50hp. Direct swap. They are definitely an upgrade. Much smoother shifts, and no worry of frozen lines becoming a problem.

Very high quality
Smoother operation than the original cable had. Just be careful when replacing that you remove the plastic bushing off of the old cable as this new one doesn’t come with it. I didn’t realize until after it was already replaced and I couldn’t get the shifter adjusted correctly. There was a small plastic bushing on my old cable on the outboard side that had to be removed and installed on the new cable in order for it to fit correctly.

Seems like a good quality cable. Replaced the Teleflex Gen 1 cable perfectly. Works smooth as silk. If your control is shifting hard, get one now so you don't lose precious time you should be spending on the water.

Made a big difference
Old cables that have lost their lubrication or oxidized make shifting problematic. These cables move "like butter", and improve control greatly over tired old cables. They are very well made and have not suffered by the use of a plastic cylinder instead of brass. Newer manufacturing techniques and materials will ensure great performance now and into the future.

Even a dummy like me can install just make sure the proper ends are on the correct end. I did not need the extra length as it said to get when ordering, old cable was 16 feet 6 inches directions said go to next foot when that applied.

we ordered the 11 foot one and it was what we needed to get the boat working again....it a pain to install into our boat as access is limited and we are not mechanics by any means ..thank Gawd for youtube....hope it last cause I don't want to do that again lol
