Impressive for sub $10 pen!
Im throughly impressed with how the Zebra V-301 The way the pen writes is smooth and no issues with ink flow. The pen takes regular cartridges, but also included 2 Zebra cartridges which are a little thicker than the universal ones. Pen is all metal, and the nib is hooded. Overall the pen is well balanced, and does there’s no fatigue while writing. I feel this is going to be a favorite of mine. And with how much the pen cost, getting one is a no brainer.

Work great! Follow these directions before using
A lot of customers say it is hit on miss with this pen as far as skipping. I got a hit with mine. Mine only suggestion when you open it is..#1 pray. #2 load the cartridge the correct way…and cap it…return it to nib side down for gravity purposes and let it sit for a full 5 min to let the ink come down the workings of the pen and nib to saturate the wick. #3 pray one more time. Then attempt to use it. Haven’t had any problems works great and smooth as butta

Inexpensive but you wouldn’t know it!
An inexpensive great fountain pen purchase. Ink flows well. Easy to use. At this price, I’m tempted to pick up another.

A good idea executed badly
I want to like this pen, but I just can't. Zebra's disposable fountain pens are such nice writers that I thought this would be a step up. I was wrong. There are features of this pen I like. The stainless construction is very nice. The cap posts securely. The pen balances well. Unfortunately, the pen doesn't write well, and sometimes doesn't write at all. When it does write it writes well, with a nice fine line. Unfortunately, it's hard to start, and getting it started often involve shaking it to loosen up the ink, and banging it on its cap on the desktop to wet the feed. Even then it often skips, and seems to take a bit of pressure to keep writing. This feed is a colossal engineering blunder on the part of Zebra. All they had to do was wrap a nice pen around the nib and feed from the Zenwriter disposables and they would have had a winner. They blew it. To contribute further to the blunder they made a proprietary cartridge design, and don't offer converters. Don't waste your money. Better pens for around the same price point are the Jinhao 992, or several of the other Jinhao pens for just a little more, and the Platinum Preppy, all of which are better writers. The Jinhao pens have the advantage of taking standard nibs and International Standard cartridges, and they usually come with converters, so the writer can use bottled ink. You could also spend a little more money on a MUCH nicer pen, such as a Pilot Explorer or Metropolitan. Perhaps if Zebra put a little effort into designing a feed for the V-301 that actually worked reliably then they would have a winning pen. Update: After flushing the pen with ammonia based pen flush, and persisting with it through three cartridges of ink I've finally gotten it to write consistently. If Zebra had gotten it to write this well out of the package then my review would have been much better. While it can be made into a good writer, it takes work, and it is not appropriate for a novice fountain pen user. For someone who enjoys tinkering with fountain pens as much as writing with them then it's a nice toy. Update 2: If you like the form of this pen, but you want a pen that actually writes, then look up the Muji fountain pen. It's a bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Ink bleeds when wet. Nib too small, doesn’t write consistently
The nib on this is too sharp and the ink doesn’t want to come out consistently. Drives me bonkers. I like the plastic Zebra pen better even though it looks cheaper - it works more consistently than this one. Also important to know - this is great as an artist tool. If it gets wet, the ink runs. So this is not for documents and homework and things. This is for an artist who wants to play with ink.

Disappointed
I bought this pen because I love fountain pens. But this particular pen did not work for me. However I did order a second one and it woks great. So do not be afraid to try it out. The first just happen to be a bad one. I did not return it because I used both inks so I figured there was no reason to return it.

Nit a great writer
For 5.99 it's a dirt cheap fountain pen. Love the design of it but ink flow is horrible. Think they could do better.

Altamente recomendable.
