Continental Trail King Mountain Bike Tire - Clincher, Wire, Black

These are great tires. I was using those Walmart tires and those wore out about once a month! These things last for months! And I ride every day. Side walls are kinda thin though, but I guess that's what bicycle people want.

Size 2.2 on a 17 mm rim. Much lighter, faster on pavement, better cornering on gravel than the sunlite CST241 previously on the bike. Didn't use it long enough to vouch for the durability but most tires in this size are 1.5 to 2x the price so it's cost effective. Comments if installed on a 17mm rim: Caliper measure 50mm. Very tight - plastic levers will probably not do the job. Some reviewers rated this tire poorly due to difficult installation but owning 7 bikes my experience is tightness depends on rim width - some tires actually install easier on a narrower rim. Not a wire bead tire as described because it arrived folded. Most of my bikes have Continental tires and for over 10 years and so far I never had a flat on the road.

My last pair is just now starting to crack and wear down after about 8 Years of use; I bought these for when the time comes. The pair I had were the X-king which is now Cross King; Very Durable, Exceptional Roll, Traction and Protection was superior. I probably only had two or three flats in the last 8 years except from storing the bike. If your transitioning into these from stock; the difference is 3x better in comfort, you'll notice all the details in the traction and roll.

Tough to get over the rim, but fit great after that

I am very impressed so far with these tires. I installed them on a Trek Marlin 5. They are comparable to the more expensive option that Maxxis provides. They are perfect for the cross country trail riding. The side wall seems to grip pretty well in turns and has plenty of traction for uphill climbs.

These tires are extremely light, and grip well on loose gravel like I have on the roads where I'm at. Rolling resistance on pavement is also great, and my bike rides so much smoother than with the Walmart bell tires I had on before. Durability might be low compared to those as they're a thin tire but after riding them it it's well worth that trade off for me.

They're a pain in the backside to mount properly and I had a hard time getting them seated, arthritis sucks. however once I got them seated, they are very comfortable, and ride really well. there isn't a whole lot of rolling resistence, and I got really good grip on the lousy rural ny roads I ride on.

I was excited to get these tires- they seemed like a great price and I've used Continental tires on road bikes for years without issue. Unfortunately I'm quite disappointed with these tires though as they are horribly out of round to the point that the bike is uncomfortable to ride. The video shows the irregularity of the front tire and the back is just as bad or possibly worse- as you can see they wobble not only up and down but also side to side. I've mounted and installed many bicycle tires over the years and am confident that this is not user-error. I re-installed these tires twice just to make sure everything was seated and aligned properly but they remain awful. I also know that it's not a wheel issue. I wish I hadn't thrown out my antiquated Kenda Komodo tires because they were way better than these. The price is great, aesthetically the tires look awesome, but quality control seems to be a major issue. Also, these tires arrived tightly folded up, so they are not wire beads. I suggest spending a bit more money and getting a tire that is round.

Little bit tight going on but that's what you want. I'm running tubes at the moment but these would be perfect for tubeless
