Only in-house WiFi, not internet enabled
They work fine and connect like a regular dual 120VAC outlet. I liked the straight wire connection that screw tightened rather than the unreliable straight push in wire type. The USB ports work well though not high power. But the two ports get rid of a lot of chargers hanging on the walls. The WiFi control works well though I can usually walk over and turn a switch off myself :-) :-)Unfortunately, these are NOT internet enabled. WIFI works fine but just on your local network (at least for me). Internet enabled outlets are 2-3x this price. I will keep these however for the USB ports. No idea how well it works with Alexa.

Wrong Screw
The screws that hold the faceplate are not the same size as every other outlet I have ever installed. So either you paint to match or you have white screws on whatever color your non-contractor faceplates are. Opting to paint them. Product works fine otherwise.

People need to learn about networking
I’ve read through just about every single review here, and the number of people installing smart devices with little to no knowledge of how WiFi or the Internet works is scary. Just about every single light and switch in my house as well as a significant number of outlets are “smart”. About 100 devices total, including a dozen Amazon Echos. Yes, most of the devices require a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection. No, your router/access point doesn’t force you to use a combo 2.4 GHz/5 GHz connection. As an IT engineer I know of no router or access point that forces you to do that, business class or consumer class. Log into your device and create a second SSID for your smart devices and limit it to the 2.4 GHz antenna only. Mine is called smart. Imagine that‽Now, one guy said that these will connect to Wi-Fi but they’re not Internet enabled and that you have to spend 3x as much for an Internet enabled device. No, just no. The device connects to Wi-Fi the Wi-Fi then routes traffic to your router (if it’s an access point ) and out to the Internet. The app interacts between the communication of the smart outlet and the app’s servers. That means the device is 100% Internet enabled when setup properly. For the woman who said that her husband won’t allow these devices to be connected to the app because he’s afraid of them being on the home network, go into your router and create a guest network - better yet create a VLAN if your router supports it and create an SSID attached to that VLAN, but if not a guest network will do. Almost every single home router made in the last 10 years has a guest option. Once you do that, device is connected to that network will not have access to the rest of your house, not your PCs, phones, tablets, game consoles, TVs, etc. That way, you could use the app and control the outlets. If you aren’t going to use the app to control the outlets, why in the world would you spend this much money for a smart outlet with USB ports when you can buy one for significantly less that isn’t smart?OK folks, that’s about it, smart devices are amazing, and these guys when you install them and set them up correctly and have a properly set up home net work should give you a lot of convenience.

Great smart outlet to play multiple things in with a wifi connection as well. Easy to setup and synced with the phone. Have been used for about 3 months, works great without any connection issues. I can turn the heater on from another room before getting into the bedroom. I love having hand free options.

you don't HAVE to use the app
We had some trouble installing these. They didn't work the first time. So we switched the wires and installed them "wrong." That's when the blue WiFi light started blinking. So they're wired backwards? Or more likely the backs are labeled incorrectly. We know what we're doing. We've replaced ALL the outlets in our new-to-us home. So it wasn't user error. The outlets themselves did not work at first when the circuit breaker was turned back on, outlets wired "backwards" and blue light was blinking. But the started working as soon as we pressed the WiFi button. It's blinking blue when you first install them. It stops blinking and shines solid blue once it's live. Even if you haven't connected WiFi to it. So know your outlets will ALWAYS have a blue light shining. My husband is uncertain about connecting it to the app since the app wants you to connect to your main home network which really makes him husband nervous. So we're currently using them without the app.But do know that even if you have them installed and connected to the app, most devices will not turn on when you turn on these outlets via the app.... Only things like lamps with a physical on/off switch that can be left in the 'on' position. Your TV most likely won't work with these, nor more modern appliances. They can be shut OFF when you turn the power off to it but they won't come on unless they're 'on' button is already in the 'on' position. I hope that makes sense.I'm trying to convince hubby to connect them to the app, because I think that would be helpful for a few main things:- turning off WiFi at night. Our router doesn't make it super easy to do digitally but now we can just turn off power to it easily and boom, teens have no wifi.- turning off the outlet our desktop computers are plugged into. We homeschool and kids like to sneak on to play games instead of what they should be doing. I have more control now.- turning on and off lights when not home- and making double certain I didn't leave the iron plugged in.On one last note, the screws on the covers are super cheap. The white paint comes off completely when you screw them in. That means they are more visible once installed.
