Good thing it comes with a 3 month warranty
I can't say how well it compares to similar products, but I can say needle scalers are definitely worth the money. I knocked a ton of rust off my truck's undercarriage in short order, and the pieces generally drop off in chunks instead of going airborne like a wire wheel on a grinder does. Just being able to skip the respirator and just wear a face shield is downright luxurious, not to mention the places and positions you can use it in, where no number of different power tools with wire brushes would be able to fit. Throw on a coat of rust converter and whatever coating you choose, and you're good to go. Unfortunately, this tool only survived the rear half of my pickup truck before the "needle driver" broke, due to poor machining. The seller did confirm that they had a 3 month warranty, which they honored by offering a replacement or refund, when I sent a picture of the broken part, so for about $40, I'd say I got my money's worth since the replacement should take care of the other half of the truck if it lasts as long as the first one did. If you plan on using one for more than what I'm doing, I'd still suggest getting something that you can get an extended warranty for, even if it costs more up front.
