I read all 3 books in the series in 2 days. Lots of adventure and the story line was great and with a happy ending. Lindsey Devin writes great story. Only disappointment is the book has the POV of the heroin only compare to her other books. Would have love to get Elias POV as well. The steam was adequate enough but if you’re looking for 🔥🥵🔥🔥, this is not your read. If you’re ok with less steam but a great story, read this. There’s magic, sword fighting, hot shifter eagles and lots more. Review: I want to slap her! - Reyna gets forced by her father to join a selection if you will to marry the king. She is forced to represent her pack and her father clearly despises her. Her life has been all but controlled and basically isolated from everyone except her bodyguard. She does know another pack member she wishes to marry and run away with, Griffen. The king is McDreamy. He's fierce, powerful, thoughtful, dominant and brutal when necessary. He is absolutely yummy and treats Reyna with thoughtfulness and tenderness even when she cuts him with her actions and words. Maybe she's such a brat because she was isolated and has no idea how to interact. Maybe she's just too immature. Maybe she's a ridiculous female acting like a petulant child. Regardless, I really dislike her. She is absolutely awful to King Elias. Seriously girl, get over yourself. Big spoilers here...possibly, so back put now or read on. Reyna definitely some hidden child from Seacrest pack. Guessing her mom was a direct descendant to the throne. Probably has fae magic in her because she tingles when the magic is around her. The prophecy talked of Seacrest offspring bringing back the shinning ones (the fae and other magic users), the council asked if she had any extra powers outside of wolf shifting. The council also clarified her lineage connection to Seacrest. She even looked very simi lar to the actual Seacrest candidate. So she has power and its in hiding or being locked down somehow After Griffin, her dad and her escort all betray her, she acts horribly, rudely, and down right unreasonable to Elias. Ug! Frustrating to say the least. Good overall storyline. Hoping for closure and a happy ending...

So good
When I picked up this book I did not expect it to be a pack that was surrounded by court etiquette and it kind of gave me the feeling of the Selected series, but with a beautiful twist of paranormal romance. First, I must say that the main female character Reyna, captured my attention from the start of the book. She's strong but has this loneliness about her that you don't start to uncover until you start reading the story. She sent off to compete for a crown to become the next queen, and on her journey she meets five other girls who all come from different packs. The bond that she connects with some of these girls is just so heartfelt and beautiful to see because you finally understand that she has kind of been an outcast in her own court. When it comes to the bloody king, He was everything I expected an alpha wolf to be, and I love how Reyna has no idea or understanding of how he feels about her because she is taught at a young age to have such control of her wolf because it's unlady like to be out of control. Which I'm not going to lie. I totally relate to and so many aspects in my life. With Elias He is just the same alpahole I love about wolf shifter books with the possessiveness but an eagerness to please his mate, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The book overall I'm obsessed. I'm about to read the next one because I have to know whats gonna happen between these two mates because that's what I live for stories like this! ☺️ I rarely give books five stars but this really was a five-star book. I will be reading it again. It's vastly become one of my favorite shifter romances. The slow burn in it really kept me enticed with the story and the secrets that kind of came out throughout the book where magnificently placed and kept me wanting more. Highly recommend this book. Check it out lovies ❤️

Torn about it
I really love the story of this book and the writing really captures you. Most of the characters are lovely and it's fun to read about them... But I have so many issues with the main character/narrator of this story. She is awful to her wolf, looks down on those who are close to their wolves and uses them, ignores the man telling her he loves her, and whines and complains relentlessly like a child. Having such a whiney brat as the main character of the story is really starting to suck. I was hoping to see character growth throughout this book as she learned more about herself, the world she lives, the lies and betrayals she went through, and seeing how openly the king wants to love her and be with her. And instead she continues to act like a selfish, spoiled brat. If she was a side character, it probably wouldn't be so bad. But she's the heroine and you have to keep reading all this complaining she's doing.

Lovely story!
It’s my second time reading it and it is a lovely. Just as the first time I felt that Reyna was way too stubborn. She didn’t understand the true relationship between her and her wolf and constantly fought her own mind and desires. She makes everything harder for herself. I did however enjoy how her attempts at not attracting the kings attention backfired. I’m off to the next part.

I loved all parts of this story. Totally different , with lots of hints at a huge secret in the Nightfall Kingdom. Fascinated to read more of the main characters, the fae society, her friends and how her marriage works out.

Such a good book. Book one was so full of twists, turns, confusing feelings and heartbreak. The author did a great job and I can't wait to start book two

If you like a little bit of dislike and teasing between the main characters, you will love this book/series. Well written story that has a good flow and keeps you on your toes.

Why not 5 Stars? Well, let me explain. The book was amazing up to 90% of it. We read about a strong heroine, who had a life filled with duty and lack of love and friends. She was strong headed but also loving, honest and loyal. Then, we have the king. Strong, brutal, a killing machine. But also a dreamer who would want more than just an arranged marriage. He earned for love above all. They were just perfect for each other. Then, treason hit our lead heroine where it hurts the most and from whom she last expected. And Bam!!! She became childish, whiny, spoiled brat. All the construction of her character along her journey fell flat. By 95% of the book I was almost ripping my hair out while reading how unreasonable she was being towards the king, who was still the same man she started to fall in love with. Her stupid reasons to why she was not being respected or heard, was just that. Stupid!!! I know the author wanted to create a cliffhanger as base for the second book, but I’m so disappointed with her behavior that I’m considering if I should or shouldn’t read the second book. This was how bad her childish attitude affected me by the end of the book. The jury isn’t out yet! But, this was my opinion. Overall, the book was well written, the story is very fluid and packed with plots and twists that are totally worth to read. And that’s why I’m giving 4.5 stars

Loved the story and the whole concept. But it’s really hard to like the main female character. The king is always being gracious to her and she always throws something else back at him. You just found out about a lot of stuff. Why not trust the guy giving you a new life… The story was a little slow. I kept putting it down. I want to know what happens but I’m not sure if I’ll read the next one.
