Still my favorite
Rock solid, razor sharp, straight as an arrow and pretty as the pictures.. Keep the blade oiled with Corrosion-X or CLP and it should stay pretty. ADDITIONAL (2026) - The Black No-Bohi is built with the same dimensions as the Red Bohi and the Gold Bohi. Mine didn't have the white Dragon emblem that is shown on the blade, but it does have the same dragon on the Saya. The blade is an impressively brilliant, polished black. Everything is straight, tight and sharpened, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. The tsuba doesn't attract a magnet, but most made today don't. The tang does draw a magnet all the way back to the last 1.5" of the handle. I wrapped the grip with a few wraps of hockey tape and couldn't be happier with it. This red/black handled model doesn't come with a sword bag, but I have found that those inexpensive $4 shotgun cases (52x4" those thin ones) work way better for this anyways - the cuff can be rolled back down to index on the Tsuba. You can then choose to have more (or less) of your handle showing, or you could use elastic bands to (almost) get the same basic effect with a standard sword bag. The combination of an inexpensive sword bag with a gun sock is probably my favorite way to make it travel ready, because that Styrofoam shipping box won't last very long at all. Dimensions are the exact same for the Red/Black (Bohi) model as they are for the Gold/Black (Bohi) model. The only difference I could find between them is the color of the Itomaki wrap. Weight and balance are both comfortably within the Goldilocks zone. Weight is a midrange 2lb & 6oz. Point Of Balance is about 4.75" from the Tsuba. Sori is an optimal 13/16." Handle is 10.5" and blade is 28.5." The scabbard holds onto the sword a tiny bit looser than I prefer, but your preference might be different. Disappointment = ZERO. Recommendation = DEFINITELY. If I decide to get another (excellent) Chinese katana, I will certainly be back here for another Siwode because they have a decent variety to choose from, and they know their craft. And it is true that every rare now-and-then an unbelievable sale price is offered, as some commenters (HARRY, in particular) made a big point about it - take advantage of this Amazing opportunity when you get the chance. The LSWYBJ (Blueblade) and the Towatiwe (Blurple) are both decent models of a high-value katana, but honestly, Siwode brand is the best quality I've found so far.

Incredible for the price!
I was VERY skeptical with the cheaper katanas on Amazon. But after purchasing this I gotta say that this one changed my mind. Other katanas at this price point are probably garbage but not this one! The fact that they've taken the time to do amazing packaging to protect they're product shows me that they stand behind they're katana. Are there better katanas on Amazon, absolutely. But you'll pay the extra $ for sure. Whether this is handmade or not, this is an amazing sword for the price. Pros: True Full Tang, nice and tight in the scabbard, not loose rattling sound when sheathed, very sharp out of the box, blood groove on the spine, perfectly straight(mine anyways). Cons: "Printed" dragon on the scabbard(not a big deal), a little bit to much "bling" IMO with the gold color(I usually don't like alot of gold on my swords), but that's personal preference. Also needs to be oiled often if it's going to be "used", which is typical with 1060 steel. Great "basic imo" katana that stands apart from other "cheap" ones on Amazon.

First time sword buyer
This came in a typical amazon box. Inside the box was a styrofoam box containing the sword. The sword is in its sheath and the whole thing is wrapped in plastic. The handle is wrapped in yet another layer of plastic. There is s small cardboard square with dome info about siwode. There is also a small sand packet for the sheath. When I first pulled the sword from the sheath the blade is wrapped in oiled plastic. It looks very nice. It has an appropriate heft as a sword of this size should but is not heavy. I have not taken it apart yet. I tested it on a large watermelon. It cut it cleanly in half with little effort. I even tried a left hand swing ( I’m right handed) and it still was like cutting butter with a hot knife. I also tried it on a small tree, about the diameter of the tsuba. It cut cleanly through. This sword is not a toy. It is a real sword, it can do some real damage. For $135 after shipping, it is worth every penny.

Great for the price and Very sharp! Good craftsmanship.
Great for the price. I've always wanted a Katana but have been skeptical in spending 1,000+ on one. It comes extremely sharp I've never owned a blade where the whole blade from the thickest part comes into the sharp edge of the blade instead of it having a sharp edge only towards the end of the edge. Even my tantos have the edge shaped only towards the end of the edge. My only concern would be how to sharpen it without ruining or changing the edge. It is very nice and sharp but it does not have a hamon what so ever. But it is the real deal as far as a sword goes. The craftsmanship is nice and the scabbard is nice and looks clean but I do wish it came without the dragon sticker. That's just personal taste in appearance though. I think it looks beautiful to show off mounted at home as a decorative piece that also has full capability to use for defense. It'll definitely ruin somebody's day but I would feel bad using it to cut brush and such I'd rather abuse my cold steel blades.
