NOT ALL SWEETENERS ARE CREATED EQUAL!
Folks, let me begin by saying how very different each and every one of our taste buds are. They are unique in so much as we TRAIN them to be different--from the first piece of food we place on our tongues. That said, I will write my review of this product sort of in direct response to a review written on June 23, 2014.Note that I also have diabetes, controlled. I have spent quite a bit of time dissecting the pros and cons of sweeteners, and their effect on my blood sugar levels. My search for "sweet" substitutes has been two-fold, as I not only need to find what carries the best Glicemic Load response for my body, but also what helps me to erase my cravings for sweets, as our bodies have been programmed to do with all the processed sugars we have pummeled our bodies with for so long.I have satisfied BOTH objectives with this product! It is counter-productive to try and imitate the sweetness of processed and artificial sugars 1:1. You do yourself a disservice by doing so.The main point of using this product instead of processed sugars, honey, agave, artificial sweeteners, etc., is to reduce the amount of available carbohydrates as you eat and drink daily. This alone reduces your overall blood sugars. This "test", as presented by the reviewer is flawed in such a way as to make you think he's on to something. However, we would need this test to be conducted for a minimum of two months, with an A1C test conducted prior to, and after, this two-month period. Then and only then could you begin to present results pertaining to the efficacy of this product as a tool to help maintain lower blood sugar levels. Also, note that comparing this product to the use of artificial sweeteners directly flies in the face of those of us who want to keep man-made chemicals out of our system. Artificial sweeteners, while they may not directly affect your A1C with your immediate-use tests, will most certainly affect how your body reacts to, and craves, additional processed substances. This includes Stevia-based products -- unless it's PURE Stevia, unblended with other man-made "sugars" and chemicals. In addition, to compare the levels of nutrients and vitamins found in this product to bananas is ludicrous, for those of us who are interested in actually reducing sugars of any kind, as bananas are one of those things that should be eaten mindfully -- since it is a super-high Glycemic Index fruit! So sure, you'd get more potassium from the banana, but your blood sugars would be super-spiked! Come on, if you're going to do this test thing, do it right -- and compare apples to apples, which by the way, are wonderful when this product is added!REGARDING TASTE: I love the taste of brown sugar, and I couldn't function without my coffee. This product enhances the flavor of ANY coffee I use it in, just like brown sugar does! I also use it in Cream of Wheat, Oatmeal, Smoothies, cooking, etc. Wonderful enhancement to flavors. If you do not like a slight caramel, or nutty flavor, then this may not be the product for you--although I would encourage you to try it. You never know until you try if you'll like the flavor. To those reviewers who poo-poo the product based on the "sands" or difficulty experienced melting/mixing the product out, note that in hot products, as with processed sugars, it will melt and mix out almost immediately; but, as with processed sugars, when used in cold beverages, you will want to mix it out completely in either a small amount of room-temperature or warm liquid prior to adding it to your cold beverage. All in all, this is hands down one of the BEST sugars available, whether you want to just cut back on the processed and artificial sweeteners, or you just want to control your blood sugars a bit better, WITHOUT sacrificing your coffee, tea, or beverage intake.BONUS: this product is fantastic sprinkled on fruits!! A great way to still have dessert!!CAUTION: Not all Coconut Sugars are created equal! Watch your ingredient list, and make sure it's organic, non-gmo, etc.MY RECOMMENDATION: Try it, you'll more than likely love it!

a sugary adventure
If you are expecting SWEET sweet, this is not going to work for you. If you like something that takes the edge off the bitter in your coffee it works well. There are some things I will not use this in because it is a raw coconut sugar. It has a slightly nutty flavor that works for coffee, some teas, some cereals, and many desserts but not everything. I also like that it is safe for diabetics.

A NICE CHANGE
I wasn't looking for a sugar substitute, but when I came across this on Amazon Pantry and seen the great reviews I thought what the heck I'll try it.I didn't have high expectations as I'm not a diabetic or a sugar- addict and do not need or have tried other sugars to determine which is good or not good. But let me say this sugar I am in love with and hope I can learn how to bake with it. It does however a carmely taste to it which Is what I like about it. I mainly use it in my black coffee in the mornings.Hope this review was helpful.

It's A Matter Of Personal Taste But It Grows On You
I'm not crazy about the taste of this sugar but it's ok. I'm going to try to get use to it and use it in different ways. I still prefer raw honey.March 17th: I've really gotten used to this palm sugar. I didn't use it for a while and then the other night took it out and put it in my hot green tea. Guess I was just in the mood for that particular taste at the time because I had a second cup and then used it again the next evening with my tea instead of using the honey. Still use the honey during the day but there's just something a little different about the taste that suits the evening hours. Maybe that sounds a little squirrely but that's it....it has a "warmer" more rounded taste than honey in green tea and that, for me, is more suited to a relaxing evening cup. Plus...I'm getting those important nutrients...lol. Bottom line. I've grown to like this product and will buy it again. I will NOT buy it through Pantry Prime though. I pay for a Prime membership. I shouldn't have to pay more on top of that for Pantry shipping.

It was ok.
Health nut here. Not a big fan of the taste, but it's OK if you use it proportionately. On my radar but I'd like to try some other brands to compare.

Tasty!
So far, I have only used this for my coffee, but I am really enjoying it. It has a kind of nutty flavor, I guess? It's subtle. Definitely not as sweet as sugar, but I can deal with that considering it's healthier! I'd like to try it in baking, I just have to find the right recipe.
