Compact sturdy piece of kit with surprisingly beefy power.

This is a review of the Werktough Cordless Rotary Tool. It came in a cardboard box together with a charging lead, instruction manual and a boxed set of 99 accessories in a see-through display case that just about includes most items you might well need for such a tool. Once opened up, it has multiple layers as you unfold the items in 'racks' - or trays - so to speak. However I find it odd that the accessories seem to be an ‘add on’ as I would have thought the actual tool might have been in a larger box to make it a set in its own right. The actual tool is quite heavy and robust build-wise and has a built-in LED light at the front end, which could be useful. It has a 2.0 A 8 volt internal battery that does not take long to charge up but the power is really where it scores as it has 5 speeds - it goes from 5000 to 25000 RPM. However one quirk being regardless of whatever speed you are using before switching off, the moment you switch it back on again it goes straight away to the ‘half way’ mark at 7000 RPM and it caught me out the first time as you expect it to start in the lowest setting. There are only three buttons: on/off and plus + and minus - buttons to adjust the speed so all very simple. Interestingly it has a low vibration count and so is very manageable in use - I have one that shakes all over once switched on, so you notice the difference and that one is an ‘household band name’ as well. I cannot find anything to niggle about (apart from the above observations) because as a tool of it’s size and robustness, its in a class of its own. This is now my 'go to' tool of choice now when I require a small tool due to the above comments.

The cordless rotary tool certainly looks the part. It’s rechargeable, have 5 different power levels, and comes with a handy well set out case of all the tools you need. The instructions are very very basic, telling you how to charge, wear safety goggles etc. the instructions states the tool itself is 8V yet the charging lead is only 5V, so a little confused over this as not sure how well it will charge (it came precharged). The instructions don’t tell you what tool bits are used for what purpose. There are so many of them and some are obvious of what they are, but some are not. The tool has the power to sand well and drill a hole well with the larger sized drill bit, but for the smaller drill bits they don’t fit the royalty tool, and the pieces that sit in the tool don’t fit either which I have tried to show in the photo (the gold tool is what is already in the rotary tool, the silver tool is what comes with the set. As you can see the silver part is wider than the gold one so won’t actually fit in the rotary tool, so you can’t use the smaller drill bits. Which makes them useless. Would love to have given this 5 stars.

It does what it says. No frills and no fuss. Down side is that it can only be used for short periods of time. 3-5 minutes max before it becomes too hot to hold on to.
