These things were exactly what I was looking for. They are made of metal and so are very sturdy. They are very easy to install and come with 2 different lengths of set-screws so you can put these on multiple sizes of poles. They look really nice and make it so the flag doesn't get all tied up. They aren't too bulky and the set screws being different sizes helps. I love that it came with 4 of them so I can hang both of my flags as I make my flagpoles. Definitely worth it.

Understand that these rings don’t have any type of bearings in them. It’s just a steel ring that spins around in a slot in an aluminum sleeve. You affix the aluminum sleeve tightly to the pole with a set screw, and then the steel ring just spins around in the slot. It is designed to have relatively low enough friction to spin around in the wind. I just installed them this afternoon and they work fine brand new; how long the durability will be I do not know.

These rings don’t stop the flag from rotating in high wind, but it does seem like it unwinds itself more easily. (But not always!) One thing I really dislike though, is something I realized 5 days after the return window had closed, when I went to put a new flag on the pole: the triangular metal piece that holds the caribiner clip sticks out so far that it’s hard to get a new flag on without removing the entire metal piece. I tried to locate the little tool they sent with it, which is a specialized kind of wrench, but of course couldn’t because I didn’t think I’d need it again! I tried using some Allen wrenches I had, but they weren’t the right size. So I tried to manhandle it off using a pair of pliers, but that didn’t work. I finally took the little caribiner clip off, which gave me just enough room that I was able to stretch the edge of the flag over the metal piece. I guess they made it stick out so far to help the flag rotate more evenly, but it affects the ease of removal. That whole process took 30 minutes, so I was pretty annoyed. Don’t lose the wrench!!

Look and feels durable.

There is a certain orientation for the installation. This is not written inside anywhere. Be sure to install it properly.

But they squeak to an obscene degree.
