Helped my subwoofer get enough signal to turn it on.
I’m using this in line with my soundbar’s sub output (which had a very weak signal). It worked nicely to boost the audio signal so the sub now works as it should. We use our soundbar for movies, but often just for streaming music too (Bluetooth, Pandora, etc). Unfortunately, the soundbar’s sub output was super weak. Before, my soundbar’s sub output signal was so weak, it often wouldn’t even turn the subwoofer on (it’s an auto-on subwoofer that powers on when it senses an audio signal). And when it worked, the sub signal was so weak, it sounded like there was no subwoofer at all, even when the subwoofer’s volume was all the way up. You had to get right next to it to even know it was doing anything.Putting this in line between my soundbar’s RCA output and my subwoofer’s RCA input boosted the signal perfectly so I can now hear the subwoofer nicely. The volume knob on the subwoofer now will go from relatively quiet to full dance party mode.I had no issues with the “hum” that others have mentioned. It’s as quiet as can be, and I don’t even have the optional ground wire hooked up. It does have a ground wire connection on it, so connecting that to the chassis of your stereo, turntable, subwoofer, etc, would likely eliminate much of the hum people have mentioned (I’ve had hum issues on my other stereo and a ground wire connecting all the audio components’ chassis together solved it).I’d definitely recommend this if your system is sending a low level signal to another component that just doesn’t have enough uumph to get the audio levels that it should be getting.

Works for tuners without a phono jack
Works great! My old tuner burned up and the replacement tuner did not have a dedicated phono input so I had to use this device and I plugged it into the "video" Jack's.

Works Great for its Intended Purpose
I have only had this a short time but so far it’s working great with no added noise that I can detect. The purpose of this device is to convert the low level signal from a magnetic phono cartridge to the inputs of a receiver or amplifier or recorder that DOES NOT HAVE a dedicated phono input. Any other use such as connecting it directly to amplified speakers is at your own risk. It has RCA stereo in and out sockets. NO TRS, the Amazon description is wrong but the photo is correct. It also has a ground terminal which should be connected to the turntable to eliminate hum.

Be aware of what you need.
It turns out I didn't need this unit. When I first connected it the sound was horrible and after trying some steps to isolate the problem I determined that the new pre-amp was the source of the distortion. I returned the unit and got a replacement the next day. It was only later that I learned that the turntable has a built in pre-amp and I was overdriving the aux input. This pre-amp wasn't the problem at all. I'm sorry to have put them to the trouble of replacing it, but there was nothing in the instructions stating that this might be the case. Be aware of this and check your turntable for a gain switch. That being said, I tried it with the turntable pre-amp turned off and the sound was clear and the level acceptable. If you actually need a turntable pre-amp this is a great one for the price.

LEGACY TURNTABLE TO NEW 5.1 AMP: PROBLEM SOLVED
This is the perfect preamp for an old turntable. The unit is very self-explanatory with very simple directions. Plug in the RCA and ground wire to the preamp and plug in the RCA cable to the new amp. There is a small power adaptor to connect to make the preamp work (Hint: that's why they call it a pre-AMP).There is no hum and everything works like a champ. The vinyls are now spinning, clear with all the pops and scratches that come from a good LP. Have fun.

This works well
For a cheap pre-amp, it does the job well.
