Love the result, the build not so much
Love the end result, but the build itself was taxing. I prefer written instructions, but the paper instructions it came with were sometimes difficult to understand. Luckily they had YouTube videos, but I don’t like relying on them. Plus as some others mentioned, some of the wood pieces were flimsy so you have to be pretty careful with them.Overall, I do love the model. It’s fun to launch different projectiles and the size is nice too. Just wish the building process was a bit more refined.

Humbling experience
Wow, that sucked. I’ve built dozens of wood kits, gives me brain something to do. Or maybe it’s my hands. I dont know. Maybe it’s that they make me feel better about sitting around watching tv if I’m being constructive simultaneously. Whatever, I like em, up for the challenge. Most of the review complaints you’ll generally see, like “the wood’s not strong enough” or “it was confusing” I tend to disregard, attribute to impatience, etc. And I’m usually right and they all come together just fine. I’ve definitely had troubles and certainly broken some pieces but it’s usually on me. Confusing/outright bad instructions are definitely common though.Anyway, as to this thing specifically. Well, I got it together so that’s good. I started getting concerned after about the 8th piece I snapped though. I rarely break any, maybe a couple at most. Another step you need to insert 4 pieces and it came with 2 spares. I thought wow, that’s overkill. But after plowing thru 4 just finishing the second one I reassessed. The ones with have nail holes are extremely weak fyi. So yeah, not the strongest wood. I didn’t notice any warping like one reviewer (though they also mentioned they’d stained it so I wonder if maybe they warped it themselves using water based stain). The instructions aren’t the greatest but I’m already familiar with “without point nails” and whatnot, wasn’t too bad. I did have to briefly backtrack a couple times but nothing major.Usually when you finish you’re done but not this thing. Unless I’m just really unlucky and bad at this. First shot technically functioned but if you’re wanting to have it actually fling something anywhere you’re going to need to do a lot of fine tuning. The string lengths, including the ones pre-tied to the sling bag, needed some experimentation. Finally go it shooting a decent distance but mainly straight up. More fiddling, getting better but nothing like the video. Kinda over it but I’d like to feel like I’ve finished first. Just debating whether it’s worth the risk I might get so frustrated I end up stomping it to kindling in a blind rage. Eh, jury’s still out. This one’s doable but if you’re debating between two you may want to go with the other one. The ones like this that rely on nails and glue feel somewhat cheap to me, from a satisfaction stand point. I prefer the sanding interconnecting ones more.Btw after I finished assembling it I actually went and checked out the YouTube videos. Thought I might learn something new or see how to make it shoot better (no to both). It’s almost worth it for the music though. I think maybe they were going for Celtic, since medieval weaponry maybe? Well, they landed more on Bluegrass. It’s a trip.

Great model
Me and my son put this together and it was a lot of fun. If you buy this product I recommend paying close attention to detail when assembling. I ran into a few user errors where I accidentally put a few pieces on backwards.

Patience is mandatory. Small nails will drive you crazy.
All in all this model is well designed and the vast majority of laser cut parts fit together. You will find that the tiny blunt in "nails" which are a mainstay of the construction can, at times, be a royal pain in the kyster. On many occasions the pre drilled holes all too narrow and either you will bend the nail trying to insert either with your fingers or needle nose pliers. Sometimes they have to be lined with four layers and getting them fully inserted will drive you to drink. Toward the end of construction you are asked to insert the nails into the tiniest piece of wood and I gave up and just glued the parts instead. I suggest that you go on youtube and follow the video instructions for this kit's assembly. You will do many, many rewinds in an attempt to get the right rotation of the image to see what the builder is doing. Pay very, very close attention to detail or you could have a disaster on your hands. One of mine was with one of the big wheels where I carelessly didn't align the H shaped openings of the top and bottom of the wheel, proceeded to glue it in place and while admiring the not so easy part of inserting the ribs in the wheel's second cover I determined it to be 90 degrees off and and to tear it apart and with several breaks attempt to mend the damage. I did this successfully but it cost me a lot of time and anguish at a late stage in the kit's construction. There were other mistakes which I rectified (usually with glue). In summary, your patience will be tested for sure, but double check everything you do or you might end up with some kindling.
