Darn Tough Men's Hiker Quarter Midweight with Cushion Hiking Sock (Style 1959) -

This is probably my fifth pair of Darn Toughs I have in the sock rotation, they are all top quality! I'll probably end up purchasing another pair. For me, this model sits above the calf and below the knee. I wear a heavy, durable boot for work and find the padding adequate for all day wear.

In short, I need a wool blend sock that fits well, does not slide down / bunch, and that stands up to wear. After searching for the perfect socks these have absolutely met my expectations. Now to get winded. I have tried plenty of name brand and off brand socks over the years in search of perfection. Others have started out with promise only to start falling down after a half dozen washings or so, or they have started to show wear in the heels or toes in too short order, or even started loosing threads just pulling them on. I am demanding, admittedly, that a sock stand up to the rigors of my use, and am fine with paying good money for such performance. I have five pair of these in charcoal and a couple / three pair in white. I have put much more use in the charcoal. I am writing this review a few weeks short of three years after purchase. I am back to purchase more as they have finally started showing some wear in the toes and heels, so it is time to cull the old ones and move forward. These are my everyday socks. Year long, winter or summer, this is the sock that works for me. Wicking?...check! No stink?...check! I often wear wool socks for two days, turning them inside out to air overnight between wearing, because you can! Wool is no joke and Darn Tough has the blend and design down to a science. My use defined...I wear work boots all the time. Most days I am in them for 10 - 14 hours. Some days I get 15,000 steps in out in the warehouse on and off the forklift or out and about making deliveries locally. Other days they might be going along with me for a long ride in my truck where I am lucky to get in 4000 steps for the whole day. Weekends, if not at work, are similar in activity levels, just different activity. At the end of the day I would absolutely recommend these socks to nearly anyone unless they change them up or discontinue this particular style.

I wear a men's size 16 wide Columbia waterproof hiker for casual wear. While they breathe nice and keep feet warm in the cool weather, cotton crews were not regulating the sweat well if it warmed up throughout the day. At 6'10" tall my feet filled the boots completely there was no wiggle room for a thicker sock to soak up sweat and Darn Tough merino wool was a game changer! The size and thickness were perfect, tight in some areas but the wool stretches quickly to a point that they just feel comfortable and supportive after a very short time wearing them. The padding in the bottoms was definitely noticeable over the thinner layer throughout the rest of the sock and seemed to offer more pad than that of my over the calf cotton crews they are replacing. I didnt get these for the warmth as the boots do a great job with that but these socks regulate my foot temps like I've never experienced. My feet feel comfortable in my boots at every temp I've tested indoors and out so far. No sweating or feeling of overheating. I was a bit unsure about the price at first but after trying two pair will definitely be buying more as it's hard to find socks my size that do what I need them to do and Darn Tough nailed it! I only hope Amazon gets the Darn Tough XXL Westerner OTC back in black.

I’ve been seeing Darn Tough all over Facebook lately and liked what I was seeing. I looked into it and ordered 2 pairs and I’m not going to lie I’m now a huge fan of them. Little expensive but man are they comfortable. Made in the USA. Soft. Definitely better at regulating temperature over brands like dickies and carhartt. Love them

Love the socks, very cushy and comfortable however the band at the top is extremely tight. Hoping it will stretch out and be wearable.
