But Does - Gambling and manga are a combination I never thought would work. But from the moment that I read the first chapter of "Kakegurui", I was hooked. Why? For several reasons, including great art and a good story. But I'll point out my key three. One, the concept of a school system where your worth is determined by how good you gamble is intriguing, and one that has not been used in manga before, or if it has, it has not been done as well or been released for an English audience. Two, the characters are intriguing, human, and well fleshed out. Obviously my favorite is Yumeko, as the sometimes heroine sometimes crazy gambler that is bringing upset to the school system by challenging both the Student Council members and fellow students. The stakes are high, and as someone who has read the following volumes, the stakes get even higher. But for Yumeko, this is almost her lifeblood. Her reaction to the higher gamble is funny, yet disturbing to watch. Lastly, the heroine doesn't always win! This is something you are seeing more of in manga these days, like the deaths of the magical girls in "Magical Girl Raising Project" or "Magical Girl Apocalypse." But the great thing is that Yumeko reacts to her losses almost the exactly same way she reacts to her wins. You want to know more about her, and I hope eventually down the line we will get her backstory as to the way she is. In the end, one of the best manga of 2017. Review: Beautiful artwork and interesting premise. - As the headline says, the artwork on this manga is downright exquisite. The facial expressions of each character are drawn to perfection to convey their anger, glee, and sensual pleasure from gambling. Which sounds weird but is pretty fitting for the manga. The erotic nature of some of the artwork fits into the theme of the intense satisfaction certain characters get from gambling. The characters are mostly pretty interesting. The male protagonist is fairly cut and paste but the rest of the cast makes up for his lack of uniqueness. I'm intrigued by the story so far and I'm very interested to see where it goes. If the quality keeps up like this I will definitely be buying the whole series.

just as good as the anime series!
As a student in visual arts, the artist's work in this manga is IMMACULATE. Before reading the Kakegurui manga, I watched the anime. I admire the way they go into detail when it comes to the rules of the gambling choice, I, myself am a visual learner so it was a lot easier to understand when comparing to the amine series. (if you are looking for the series, it is on Netflix). when reading it, I couldn't put it down. when I first started this series, it though it was going to be boring because the whole plot was surrounded by students gambling, but it taught me a lot about strategy. LOVE THIS ONE! (I've also finished the 2nd one and am expecting the 3rd and 4th to arrive :)) Hope this was helpful!

Love the manga it’s a lot like the anime
All of these books are amazing I won’t spoil it but the plot line is amazing and easy to follow. Each page gets more thrilling and thrilling and you will always ask yourself “ what will happen next?”

Gambling in a highschool... exposing cheaters
Really interesting manga it is pretty thick in lenght compared to standard manga. The plot revolves around this girl attending a high school were the social structure is dependent on your ability to gamble. Most of the students that always winning are often involved in cheating in one way or another it is the main characters duty to take everyone down.
