Where has this dark, mafia, age-gap romance been all my life!?
How have I missed out on this author? How have I missed out on this series?I love, love, loved this book, and am ready to devour the others now to catch up on lost time!Ms. Harris's words, her beautiful prose, the power and emotion behind each letter typed... It called to my reader's heart in a way a book hasn't for a while. The story was dark, and it hurt so much. Yet, it was gorgeous in its pain, making me bleed for these characters, making me embrace all of the black and all of the light that was their tale.Fawn, both full of love and drenched in tragedy, is one of my favorite FMCs this year. Despite it all, she opened herself to Clay, I'd say from the first moment she met him, when she knelt before him without question. Her emotions, both the beautiful and the devastating, were so strong they poured from her uncontrollably, and it endeared me to her so much. I can't wait to see how her strength intensifies.Oh, Clay... I fell madly in love with him from the very beginning. I was drawn to his possessiveness and protection just as strongly as Fawn was. Who couldn't love a man that would do anything to give you everything, who would burn down the world to keep you safe? Aurora was right... He needed intimacy in his life. He needed the comfort that Fawn gave him. It was a glorious feeling to witness him embrace it.How did I miss that this was a duet? That's what I get for pre-ordering based on Bookstagram posts alone, I suppose. As I watched the time left in book tick down in the bottom corner of my Kindle, my anxiety reached all new levels. I couldn't handle the thought of it ending so abruptly. I needed so much more! Then, I reached the end and saw that there would be a second part of this story. Now, I don't know whether to rejoice or scream in frustration as I impatiently await the rest of Fawn and Clay's epic tale. This book is a dark, mafia, age-gap romance that is not to be missed! I highly recommend it! All the ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!

Dark and heartbreaking.
Clay is a delicious district daddy. Fawn is a baby animal, desperate for love. This story was dark. Fawn has survived trauma she can't fathom. Clay has lived his life focused to a fault. The collision of these two is epic. I can't wait to see Fawn grow her wings.

This one, THIS BOOK, I loved. Instant Fav!!!
I don’t know where to start. Each book, somehow, is better than the last. I gobbled this book up SO FAST, I don’t know what hit me.This story followed Clay and Fawn. Two very different people on the surface but fighting some of the same demons on the inside. Nicci Harris is a MASTER at making things/people/situations go together that you’d never believe could go together seem like it’s an everyday thing. We finally get more on the head of the Butcher family, the one almost a decade older than his brothers, who felt he let them down and didn’t know how to be closer to them. If he truly fit in. Broke my heart all he does to keep them safe with a sense of safety to boot. He CAN’T unwind, let his guard down, stop thinking 2 steps ahead because there is ALWAYS someone waiting in the wings to take him or his family out. He has to have iron control. His marriage of convenience is also business he is surrounded by his army, where he’s comfortable and rarely his family. In comes Fawn. Oh Fawn. One of THE TOP FIVE heroines of all time for me. Not because she’s a bad arse fighter, a bombshell, a brainiac, a bäll buster or a push over. Nope, it’s her heart and resilience my oh MY her resilience. I felt her to my bones. I saw so much of me in her at times it was scary. My heart still hurts right now as I write. The tears haven’t gone long from my face and ready to make a reappearance as I remember what this girl is gone through. The TRIGGER WARNINGS ARE REAL. Maybe the realist I’ve seen so far. Please do NOT take them lightly. I’ve never experienced what she experiences in this book and it still ripped my heart out. I bawled and bawled and had to take an hour break. 😮💨☹️Rhia gutted me.These two come together and slowly help each other open up and realize they need more, can BE more and the story takes off from there. Again, I WILL be buying the physical book series I love it that much.Of course I listened and read / I even went as far as using my AirPods in between sitting down to read and driving my car it was so good! Shane East and Sofia Lette both did amazing of course. Those Australian accents gave the story that much more umph. All in all, a book that will stick with me forever. Period. I’m praying their 2nd book is just as good so heading there now to start…even though it’s already past my bedtime. 😬😂🤣🥳

all in all a good read.
Starting off with what I loved. The story line itself is amazing. Our girl really goes through it and it’s traumatic and the love story woven into it is just amazing! I loved the characters and their story lines. What I didn’t like was the editing was not very good with this book. Also along with the editing I do feel like I was missing something the entire time… like there was stuff I should have already known but it doesn’t say it’s a series book… so there’s that.
