Pricey, but worth it
As far as the price goes-- it is expensive, but the author clearly spent a lot of time on this resource. Once I examined it closely, I was very happy with my purchase. That said--- the resource book is essential for instructors who do not know Latin, but also very useful for those who do. I studied Latin in college and have taught it for many years. Nonetheless, I found the teacher's guide worthwile. It includes cultural information, great ideas for activities, and reproducable pages. If you are homeschooling and feel the teacher's manual is not cost-effective since you will only be reproducing the pages for one or two students, think about the cost of a private Latin tutor-- compare the tutor's hourly rate of $40-$100 (in major metropolitan areas) to the cost of the teacher's edition. I highly recommend the Minimus resource book both for teachers with no Latin experience and those with Latin experience. I have found it extremely helpful and useful even though I am proficient in Latin and have extensive teaching experience.

Valuable Investment
This was definitely a pricey, yet worthwhile splurge. The translations and background material are helpful, especially for those not proficient in Latin. My students loved the activities, which include a family tree, paper dolls, games, Roman cursive, Roman numerals, maps and art activities. Along with this book, I used the workbook (cost £1) available on the Minimus Etc. site and Usborne: Roman Britain. The workbook contains valuable grammar practice.

Well worth the price and critical for success
This book is critical for teaching the Minimus series. The reproducible pages are important ancillary items and instrumental for getting the message across to younger children. I taught Latin at the middle and high school levels for my entire career and am now teaching my grandchildren--ages 6 - 11. I was concerned about the pace, since the high school curriculum, being IB- and AP-oriented, moved very rapidly, and I was afraid of confusing younger children and having them lose interest. The pace prescribed in the Teacher's Resource Book seems to be working very well and the idea of having an actual, documented family from Roman Britain as the focus of the text is brilliant.

Good Worksheets, Pricey
I am running through Minimus at home with my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grader. It seems to be going pretty well. The kids are in a parochial school, so we do this as extra homework on our own (I am not a traditional home school parent). The teacher's manual helps out with the worksheets that I can copy at the end of the lesson. The worksheets are very helpful. On the down side, the book is a bit pricey for me, as I only need three copies of the worksheets, and I think I would like to see a little more guidance on how to use the worksheets in conjunction with the student manual.

More than advertised
Was actually a complete set- the Teacher's Guide, textbook and the audio CD. Highly recommend this seller for delivering way more than advertised! Condition as expected.

Wonderful!
Wonderful! The lessons are clearly laid out and easy for someone without a background in Latin to teach. I also added the CD for audio reinforcement. We are just starting Latin so I'm afraid I don't have much more to add at this point. I would highly recommend this curriculum!

So glad I purchased it
This book is necessary to translate the pupil's book latin. So glad I purchased it. It's packed full of extra ideas and worksheets, as well as historical information and ways to apply the lessons to many subjects.

We used the teachers resource book in conjunction with the pupil's book which each of our learners had. The resource book is extremely good, both in terms of practical advice and with pages to photocopy for learners to use between meetings, i.e. homework. The book also sparked ideas for other developments. As we live near Vindolanda we were able to visit together with the entire group and their families - quite a big party - had a lovely day and we reckon one of the children found a mousehole in the foundations of Prefect Flavius' house where Minimus might have lived.

My kids and I love this program. The story which is based on real historical figures is very interesting to my kids as are the illustrations. I think it is great that photos are included from archeological digs which relate to the story line. The kids love that the audio cd has kids voices speaking Latin. The explanations of grammatical concepts and suggested activities are also great. Really my only complaint is that it is a little expensive.

I bought this to teach Latin as an after-school club activity to two Spanish girls and 1 English girl in Year 9. I've already used it to privately coach (yes, I know I've split the infinitive) a primary school girl. All have enjoyed it - it's a good, pupil-friendly way of introducing Latin to children who may not want or be able to take it further at the time. I've got a degree in Latin, but the Teacher's Book and activities should help a non-specialist.

I have a B.A. in Classics, so I was able to point out some extra features to my daughter in the main text, but when we poked through the teacher's book I found a few of the points in there as well. (An additional thing you might want to mention are the correlations between the French present conjugation of 'Etre'- to be, and 'Sum, es, est'... :) There are good work sheets, and enough of them to fill out a couple days of after-school work per chapter, as well as the additional activities suggested.

This book is the essential companion to http://www.amazon.co.uk/Minimus-Pupils-Book-Starting-Latin/dp/0521659604 . The pupil's book is insufficient on its own; so if your child is learning at home, you must also purchase this book. Though this book may seem expensive, please bear in mind you may legally copy its worksheets for a whole class. If you are teaching Latin to your child at home, why not try to interest some other parents and share the cost.
