Surprisingly powerful little motors.
These little motors are surprisingly powerful, and fairly easy to work with. I used one for my chicken coop door, to open and close it using ESPHome, and have no problems with the motor. The drive shaft is keyed nicely, allowing a spool to fit on it securely, and the amount of power you can get out of it is startling. My coop door isn't very heavy, and testing this thing on a vice with a power supply attached I was able to lift a 5kg weight, although the motor protested loudly.Only caveat I have is that the tabs on the back of the motor are a bit finicky about accepting solder, but some wax flux and patience got a good connection eventually

A small little motor with no leads and mounting holes only on the front side.
Bought this little Greartisan 12v 25 RPM as well as a larger BringSmart 12 volt 16 RPM worm gear motor. I wanted to put a picture of them side by side so you could get an idea of what you're paying for. The little one was around $15 and the bigger one was around $30. That's of April 2021. I am planning to build an outdoor motorized 12-ft projection screen. I believe the Bringsmart will have enough torque for the project. I feel it is well worth the extra $15. It's easily twice the size and has wired leads as well as mounting holes on both the front and back. However if you're doing something smaller you might like the space that the Greartisan saves. The little one is roughly 3 in and the bigger one is roughly 4 and 1/2 in long. Will probably donate this little one to my son for an Arduino project or something like that. I'm forced to give it stars before I used it so I will give it five stars and then come back and adjust accordingly if necessary.

Rugged and reliable. Good value.
I like to tinker. I purchased this motor 4 months ago and just got around to using it to make an automatic live insect feeder. I just finished test running the 3D printed turntable for 24 hours and it is working better than my expectations.

Pretty good motor and gear box. The connection tabs could be better
I have several of these along with the associated "flange" that can be slid onto the shaft. I use this combination as small rotating photo tables powered by a variable voltage DC power supply. The beauty of these motors is their high gear ratios make them operate stably at even a fraction of their rated 12 volts. Lower voltage makes them rotate substantially slower, so you essentially have a variable speed turn table. The only downside is the connection tabs are so fragile you have to retrofit a connector to the motor as your first order of business. Even at a lower voltage they only draw a fraction of an amp so you could probably get variable speed with just a rheostat.

failed after 30 minutes
This is a great little gearmotor, it is stable at 12vdc with good torque. during testing it began to slow and finally just stopped. It bumped one more time and now it no longer moves. I am sure that I got a weak one. I hope replacement will be easy enough.

Died in an hour of itermittent light use
All this motor had to do was lift a plastic Halloween skelleton chest up and down 1.25inches per rotation, mounted on a hinge. In ~1hr it failed. Disassembly was time consuming, but the full mechanism was still in place as designed- the motor was receiving 12v but not moving, not hot, not making any noise. Durability is very poor. Reliability is zero.

Great Performance
The motor performed exactly as I had hoped it would.

Motor burns up literally (service outstanding *****)
Motor after ten hours of operation at 12 v dc began smoking. Using it with a universal joint between drive shaft to precent any misalignment problems when began to over heat. Built this to use on a filament winder but failure was with no load merely driving gears on winder. No binding no problem turning with out motor. Motor just can not run long do to problems with gear box making a lot of noise from the start. Took me a while to test this due to other priorities and no ability to return. I do not suggest this motor for any voltage due to gear box. this was the third motor i have purchased sent one back due to excessive gear box grinding and noise other runs hot but use it with a fifty percent duty cycle to keep from burning up. Vendor recommended changing the power supply to five amps and you can bet if i do this I will use a fast blow fuse as a precaution as I am not sure why this is now required they indicated they would update their description on the motor in Amazon.Vendor was very supportive and recently not only sent me a refund without my requesting it, but is sending me a replacement for evaluation and I will be again updating this review based on the results. They believe that the motor gears were damaged which makes sense as i detected as previous noted oil covering the motor upon receipt. I am increasing the review ranking to three stars based on the response because there is no other way to give a five star ranking on just service as i want to evaluate the motor again.
