PARTICLE Photon Wi-Fi Connectivity Development Kit for IoT Projects and Prototyping

I used this on some cheesy Halloween animatronics along with the Particle RLYSHLD. It was a great introduction to IoT and the examples and support from Particle were awesome.

Compatible with a lot of Arduino libraries. Easy to use and great alternative to Arduino.

Excellent KIT to start with this excellent IOT.Easy to start and easy to program using the onlineIDE.

Received my photon just a few days ago to find it was already corroded and looks pretty beat up with scratches and marks. Not what I was expecting at all

I purchase these kits to use when teaching an Internet of Things course through my work.Ensure you order with plenty of time before needing, as they can take a few weeks to arrive.The Photon is a great device to get started with learning about IoT. It's easy to setup, and can be linked to your mobile phone within minutes. The kit also comes with some great extras to get you started on projects, including a breadboard, and some resistors, LEDs and a photosensor.Once you're up and running you can program the board through the browser using the Particle Dev interface on their website. The website also has very comprehensive instructions to help if you get stuck.As someone who comes in with only basic knowledge of Arduino, I had no difficulties getting the Photon up and running and putting together simple circuits and code.If you're setting up multiple boards at the same time, pay attention to the serial code on the back of your Photon box, as the Photon ID will appear here, and make it easier for you to locate and connect to the correct board during setup.I would recommend this board to anyone who is interested in learning about IoT.

Este dispositivo se programa de forma bastante parecida a un arduino pero tiene unas ventajas bastante notables respecto a este. Dispone de un modulo wifi integrado que hace que se pueda conectar a Internet sin necesidad de comprarlo a parte (aunque ahora están muy baratos).Se puede programar de forma remota a través de internet mediante un IDE bastante sencillo y no hace falta instalarlo en el pc puesto que se puede tener todo en la "nube" de Particle.En esta versión, incluye una breadboard, algunos cables, una resistencia LDR y un diodo LED.El único problema, el precio, que en Amazon suele estar un poco caro.

vorher habe ich mich mit Arduino und Co. beschäftigt, aber so einfach und elegant kann man wirklich nur mit diesem Mikrocontroller entwickeln. Konnte dieselbe Funktionalität, die ich letztes Jahr mit einem Arduino aufgebaut habe, binnen kürzester Zeit realisieren und durch die Integration in die Particle-Cloud sogar noch erweitern.Ausreichend digitale und analoge Ein-/Ausgänge, gut programmierbar und durch die Cloud einfach über das Internet erreichbar. Für Entwickler auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung, wenn auch etwas teurer als die anderen Mikrocontroller.

Creating IoT projects from scratch the Particle Photon is great hardware with a well supported set of development tools. The community is strong and support helpful. The ability to port Arduino libraries over to run on the Photon allows for diverse projects but with the power of the processor on the particle being far superior.Internet connectivity and monitoring, IFFFT support, OTA (Over the Air) updates all make this my platform of choice.

i was able to get the photon up and running with code connected to IFTTT and sending text messages to my phone. So quick and easy and good documentation. It comes with a light sensor and a led to get you going. If you have some off sensor parts then you can do more, but the basics were easy enough.
