Like a salon color job for so much less!
I hardly ever write reviews anymore but I am so impressed with this product! I have gotten may hair dyed at a salon a couple of times but I just didn’t want to spend that much money every 6 weeks, so I have been looking for a “holy grail” hair dye. I had tried Olia from the store & it did nothing to my grays. Then I tried a color depositing conditioner, and it also did nothing.I have maybe 20% grays in my late thirties and I have been wanting to find something I can do at home. This dye comes with a bottle with a nozzle on it, which. made it easy to apply with precision anywhere I wanted it to go. I also got a hair dye brush to help paint it onto certain areas (highly recommend if you are dyeing hair at home). You mix the creme with the activator, shake, & it turns to a light brown shade so you know it’s ready to use. After you let it sit and you’re ready to rinse, the directions say to add a small amount of water FIRST, rub your head and let the product create a lather, then rinse and add the amazing smelling hair protecting mask and riinse immediately (for thiose who don’t read directions, this is a crucial step). It was the perfect consistency, not drippy and not foam and it did not smell bad or burn my scalp. I left it on about 35 minutes and I am so happy it covered my grays. It also has a very multifaceted color in the sun, much like the Feria hair dye I used to use in my 20’s, which was definitely NOT non-toxic. There are definitely some auburn tones. The color I chose was Intense Chestnut brown and it was perfect for my very dark brown hair that already has red tones in the sun. It matches my color perfectly, which is difficult to do.Overall the ease of use, price, and the fact that this is ammonia-free, made 70% with botanicals, and gentle on the scalp make this a product I will recommend to everyone I know. The hair protecting mask that came in the box smelled absolutely amazing and took it to the next level, making it a spa like experience.10/10. 5 stars. Amazing, natural, nourishing hair dye.

Good Single Process DIY Box Color
Intense chestnut brown is a good shade for naturally black hair that shines copper or reddish in sunlight. The undertone will be an ever so slightly cooler red but definitely not too cool. Looks natural. From the reviews I have read, if you use shade numbers lower than those in the 4s, even on naturally black hair, it will be very dark and perhaps unnatural looking. YMMV, especially if you are starting with lighter hair or if you have already dyed your hair.I picked this hair dye because it is top rated - IIRC by Good Housekeeping. I'm also a previous user of Phyto products like Defrisant. Not an easy to find product in the US AFAIK. I like my natural hair color and didn't want to dye my hair...until I had streaks of grey at my temples. It's not much but noticeable when I put my reading or sunglasses on my head.Easy to use. Covered my greys. (I have only seen two very, very short regrowing grey hairs that I plucked that didn't take the color, probably because they are so short and didn't get enough dye on them.)Understanding hair color for a novice can be tough. I know people in the hair business and still can't quite wrap my head around translating color theory to match my natural hair's undertones by using the stuff at, say, Sally's. I'm looking for a box dye that takes the guess work out of shade mixing. Phyto appears to have my back.I'll repost if the grey coverage doesn't last, the color turns weird after many washes, etc.

Not available in Paris
I wish I could get the formula for my hair down correctly. I tried dark blonde for 40 minutes and it was too dark. I then tried a level 9 and it was too light and I felt it did not cover my 90% grey. An interesting note, you cannot find this product in Paris. I must have gone to 20 different stores and only found 1 or 2 boxes of deep colors. You would think that a box with the Paris label is actually available in Paris. I have a level 6 and 9 here. I’m going to try to mix them.

Covers grays
This is a wonderful hair color! Scent is nice, easy to apply! It covered my gray/white hair! Next time though I have to buy two boxes as my hair is very thick. But Phyto is great. My hair was very soft after coloring!

Great color alternative
I love this product! I color my hair my self every other time, giving my wallet a break from going to the hair dresser. I have tried a few different more natural color products without ammonia and this one is by far my favorite. My hair feels soft but thicker and to color is beautiful

Color seems to be inconsistent...
I used this product for the first time September 26. I ordered 5.3 Light Golden Brown and loved the color. Today, a month later I colored my hair again with the same color; however, my hair color turned out a very dark brown. My girlfriend and I (a retired hairdresser) applied the solution as directed and use the same time period for saturation. This product is very easy to use, does to good job of completely coloring my hair, and leaves my hair feeling and smell good. BUT, the color change is very disturbing.

End result was OK
It was so highly rated, I was anxious to give it a try.I followed the directions,( which required a magnifying glass to read) , but the mixture was so thick I couldn’t get it to come out of the application bottle. I landed up pasting it on my hair with a gloved hand. It came out fine ( not my first rodeo) but it was stressful and messy.,

Natural Permanent Hair Color
Good hair color with good coverage. The best "natural" options I have tried so far. I was using Olaz, but it did not cover grain hair very well. So I switched to this brand, and I am satisfied. The color lasts about 2 weeks, though.
