Very Good Cell Phone Audio Adapter
Just like the earphone/microphone generally included with your new cellphone for hands free operation, this adapter allows you to expand that capability. The key is, of course, the four conductor plug, consisting of left audio, right audio, microphone, and ground. This adapter allows you to feed an external microphone into your cellphone, and route the cellphone audio out to external speakers. My application may explain this adapter's value to me.At our HOA, board members who are traveling can still "attend" the board meetings via Skype. I set up a table microphone and external speakers so that the member can hear everybody, and they in turn can be heard without audio feedback.Inevitably, it seems, they lose their Skype connection sometime during the meeting as they are relying on the free wifi at their transmitting location. This adapter allows me to rapidly reconnect the external microphone and speakers to my cellphone. I then call the member on the phone, and the conference mode is once again restored, without relying on the tinny speaker of the cellphone and the limited pickup of the cellphone's microphone.Yes, the wiring appears to be somewhat flimsy, but the molded connectors are fairly robust. This adapter is meant to sit on the table during use, so it works great, and serves a very useful purpose. It is also a very good value for the money.

Just what I wanted
This device allows me to use a computer gaming headset with my iPhone. It works without any problems. And I can even use regular earbud or hi-fi headphones with an inexpensive lapel microphone to connect to my cell phone (provided the devices have a 3.5mm jack). I am told the sound quality is acceptable depending on the cell phone. My old Sprint phone gave me a better sounding call than my iPhone 4, so this can't be helped. My phone conversation was described as sounding like a call made from a speaker phone, yet still acceptable. On my end however, the call sounds crystal clear. Different headphones and mics however produce different sounds, some louder than others. I really appreciate being able to use my favorite headset for long overseas or conference calls. And being able to switch mics and headsets is an option this device give you. Finally, I like the fact that this adapter is one third the cost of some of the others, while performing just as well. I bought two adapters in case the one should give out in the future. And I was also gave one away to my partner who also has an iPhone. The price is just too good.

Perfect!
Cheap and easy solution! Want to use your PC headphones on your Xbox One? This worked for me using the XBox One Stereo Headset Adapter. Plugged the PC headphone into the green, the red mic into the "orange", then the black into the XBox One Stereo Headset Adapter. A firmware update later, and I'm golden. Can turn down TV or Stereo volume and still hear game audio through headset. (Still haven't tried mic, may need to disable Kinect mic to get it to work properly). Also, this works GREAT with my iPhone 5! Plugged my PC headphones and mic into the adapter, the adapter into the iPhone, and presto - great headset mic!!!

Works with iPhone - Not with Droid Razr M
This won't work with my Motorola Droid RAZR M - the plug is physically too long for the phone's jack. But it DOES work with my iPhone 4s.I rate this with 4 stars because despite the lack of use with my Droid RAZR M, it does work with my iPhone (which was my primary need) and it's priced lower than the alternatives that you could buy. If there were other options priced as low then I'd give it 3 stars.I haven't had it for more than a day so it may wear out (per some of the negative reviews), but I have used it to connect my cheap $15 Logitech computer headset (with separate Ear Phone and Microphone plugs) Logitech Stereo Headset H130 - Cloud White (981-000345) to my iPhone 4s, and the sound was very good and I was told I could be clearly heard, and thus I have a comfortable hands free option (I don't like the Apple ear buds that come with the iPhone - I don't like any ear buds, I prefer a headset). If I encounter issues over time, I'll update this review - but I will be careful of not trying to stress the cable so hopefully it will work for me for a long time. If it lasts 6 months, then I'll have gotten my money's worth out of it.

Microphone input static and low grade
I purchased this to use with my brand new ASUS ROG GL551JM-DH71 laptop as it doesn't have a microphone port, it only has a Headphone/Mic Combo port. This gizmo worked... slightly. The only thing that worked was the headphone connector... such a use. I can do that without this gizmo. What I wanted was to be able to use a pair of headphones and an external microphone at the same time. The microphone connector did however work.. slightly. I had to push and hold the microphone cable into the end of the microphone connector, but even then the sound quality was all static and distorted. :( I don't want to have to hold the cable in the entire time I'm talking, and I expect atleast half decent quality.. But this product didn't deliver that. The cable is very cheap and low AWG grade. The connectors seem to be lose and not take the entire input.. I'm returning this item and looking into just getting a USB mic input.

Despite claims in the description, this product will not necessarily work with all laptop computers with a single jack.
Advertises in the expanded description, "Compatible Laptops: Any laptop or netbook with a single microphone/headphone jack". I recently bought a new Asus laptop that only came with a single jack for microphone and audio output. Tried using two different headsets that had a dual 3.5 mm output/input jack with this converter and the microphone wouldn't even register on my laptop. It worked fine on my iphone, however the primary reason I purchased this product was so I could use my combined headphone and mic on my laptop. They should change their description since it seems I'm not the only one having issues with single jack computers. The $5 cost was a non-issue but I'd prefer it if I received accurate information and didn't end up with a product I can only use with my phone.
